PRZJordan’s 2A IHSA State Championship St. Teresa Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We had ourselves one heck of a game going back and forth in this tight contest between Tri-Valley and St. Teresa. This game went down to the wire on the very last play of the game. With an incomplete pass in the endzone, St. Teresa was able to come away with a 29 to 22 win adding a new trophy to the trophy collection. With that being said, there are talented young men on both sides of the ball and we're here to highlight them. His TD catch ended up being on a corner route where he used a toe tape to secure it right before going out of bounds which was impressive with the body control he flashes. On defense, this young man was making open field tackles on the perimeter all night long and can close quickly when coming down in run support to secure the tackle near the line of scrimmage for little gain on the play. In today's matchup, he finished with 3 receptions for 143 yards with 1 TD (87 yards), 6 tackles, and 1 PBU. On offense, he works as a slot receiver where he can secure the catch across the middle and use his foot quicks to break a 87 yard TD run in the 1st getting his team on the board. He also can go up for 50/50 balls on deep shots downfield to add to his offensive performance. Switching over to defense, this is where this young man isn't afraid to deliver the heavy hit on the ball carrier and make open field tackles on the perimeter. He can also jump routes in the flat for come away with his PBU on the day almost coming away with an interception and if he did there was nothing but green grass in front of him. There were countless times where it seemed like he was going to be brought down for a loss on the play but he was able to break the weak grab tackles and continue working through the whistle to stay ahead of the sticks. This young man also crashes flat down the line of scrimmage for the chasedown tackle which he secures for minimal gain. This young man is a big downhill style runner that is hard to bring down. He does a good job using his low center of gravity to play through contact and keeps his feet driving to break grab tackles when doing so. This young man also showcases his ability to stand strong in the pocket to get the ball off under pressure right before getting hit delivering a level 3 ball for a big gain downfield. He did so by using his foot quicks to burst through the alley which is similar to what he did when he had the ball in his hands on offense. Here, he was able to burst through the hole to stay ahead of the sticks working as a wingback. One play that really stood out was on a 4th down run where he had to bounce it outside and broke a 76 yard run for 6 using his foot quicks to do so. On defense, he was a menace working gap to gap and shooting gaps to disrupt plays in the backfield.
