Expert Analysis

Brown is no doubt one of the more physically imposing runners across southern California, and is a smaller but very powerful and compact runner that is very difficult to take down. He has good vision in tight spaces, cutback abilities and can accelerate quickly through the hole while able to bounce off tacklers in open space. He has quick feet through traffic, vision with cutback abilities and can hit a third level gear in the clear while showing some receiving abilities out of the backfield as well. Brown is without a doubt a college caliber back and has been under the radar so far in his career but should start gathering options through his senior season and be one of the top rushers across the section.

Brown is a think running back for a guy his height. He showed some wiggle and was making a lot of guys miss in the open field drill. Aquinas has had an excellent running back the last four seasons and Brown has the talent to slide right into that role.

Strong, compact, and well-built frame for the 5’7” 185 lb. RB out of Aquinas. Possesses a well-rounded skillset that combines his speed, power, and lateral quickness to be explosive with the ball in his hands. He attacks the LOS quickly applying pressure to the defense to be gap sound and fill. Great ability to get through the first level, shows he can use his quick jump cut to make the defender miss or run through contact and then find a lane. He’s decisive with his cuts and shows he can fit through tight seams to get to space. Love his ball security at the POA, he’s aware of contact, carries it high and tight, and knows when to get two hands on the football. Does a good job following his blockers and using them to his advantage. Shows he can push them in the right direction to allow himself to cut to space. He’s a tough tackle in the open field and can run away once he finds a lane. Ran for almost 1,100 yards and 13 touchdowns as a sophomore. Ranked in the top 100 of all 2027 prospects in the PRZ state rankings.

Champ is a gritty running back coming out of the Sunshine state of California. Being one of the toughest runners that I have seen out of this class so far, it is no surprise that Champ has already begun to make some noise around the state. The short, compact running back runs with authority as he fights for every yard that he gains on the football field, and never shies away from contact when he is rushing downfield. Being able to bench 225-pounds as a 2027 prospect allows him to muscle up on would-be tacklers. Champ also mixes in a pretty good amount of speed and agility to his game, as well. Champ is capable of changing directions on a dime in order to make defenders miss on tackles and break away from everyone on the field at the same time. He has recently announced he’ll be headed to Aquinas High School in San Bernardino.
