As previously stated, I believe Minnesota is chock full of talent, especially in these two classes. Guys in 5A are going severely underrecruited and I see D1 talent that could end up at D3 schools. Let me introduce you to the top unsigned and unoffered 5A class of 2023 QBs!

[player_tooltip player_id='19010' first='Cole' last='Hentges']: Sartell 6' 200 lbs

[player_tooltip player_id='19010' first='Cole' last='Hentges'] is one of my favorite if not my favorite 2023 MN QB prospect. Everything you could possibly want in a QB he has. Great mechanics, crazy throw power, good mobility, leadership, the whole package. He was the main reason I went to their home opener this year and he did not disappoint. Some people voice concerns about having a QB under 6'2". Those concerns are unfounded. Hentges is a playmaker plain and simple. You want the ball in this kid's hands. Any D3 college would be lucky to sign him. His talent level is off the charts.

[player_tooltip player_id='312928' first='Landyn' last='Nelson']: Andover 6'3" 215 lbs

Nelson was left in a tough spot last year, as a junior filling the shoes of a stud senior captain. And filled those shoes he has. Nelson has a great frame and great stats to go along with it. In 6 games he has almost 1300 yards and 19 touchdowns. Maintaining a 65% completion percentage while throwing only 2 interceptions is absolutely insane. This kid is a stat monster as he averages 9.2 yards per attempt as well. Not only is he elite in the pocket, but he is crazy on the ground too. He has over 350 yards and 5 TDs using his legs this season. This dual-threat athlete is someone who needs to be all over colleges' radar.

[player_tooltip player_id='313260' first='Keegan' last='Patterson']: Sauk Rapids 6'3" 165 lbs

Patterson is a dude. He stepped in when the starting QB got hurt and has been balling ever since. With only a few games under his belt as a starter, Patterson has amassed over 1000 passing yards and 8 touchdowns. After seeing his play in person I was beyond impressed. His athleticism is crazy but it explains the additional 5 TDs he's racked up on the ground. He's very accurate and has great ball placement. Over the course of this year, he maintains a 64% completion percentage and over 10 yards per pass attempt. His vision of the field is unbelievable, and he's clearly well-coached and ready to make the leap to the next level.

Grant Muffenbeir: Chanhassen 6'1" 175 lbs

The senior lefty from Chanhassen may be the most explosive runner on this list. He's great at evading pressure and puts great touch on the deep ball. He is calm under pressure and doesn't hesitate to take a hit if it means the wideout has another second to create more separation. He hits tight windows That other QBs simply can't. He hasn't taken nearly as many passing attempts as others on this list, but when he gets his chance he makes every ball count.

Jaxon Skogquist: St. Francis 6'2" 180 lbs

Following one lefty up with another, Skogquist is a bit of a mystery. A very solid frame on the 2-year starter, and at times he looks like one of the best QBs in the state. He's had 3 games this season with over 100 passer ratings and in 2 of those games, he had over a 145 passer rating. He has gotten significantly more mobile since last year and does a good job of sensing pressure in the pocket. He is at the helm of a 7-0 team at this point and with a pair of tough teams in his section to go through, I'm curious to watch how he performs under the spotlight that playoffs bring.

[player_tooltip player_id='112064' first='Jamen' last='Malone']: Robbinsdale Armstrong 6' 180 lbs

Malone was one of my favorite QBs going into 2022. The dude is a true dual-threat QB. Perfect at taking designed runs deep into enemy territory or great when the pocket breaks down around him. Malone has elite throw power and is phenomenal when throwing on the run. He can put great air under the ball where most high school QBs can't hit a moving target at that distance. Malone loves to sling it down the field and I hope that a college picks him up.

[player_tooltip player_id='112192' first='Jamarrius' last='Courtney']: Chaska 6'2" 215 lbs

There are great dual-threat quarterbacks, and then there are elite dual-threat QBs. Courtney's vision as a ball carrier is unmatched by any other QB and is better than many runningbacks. The dude is surprisingly nimble and makes cuts like a gazelle running from cheetahs. He had a career day against Cretin-Derham Hall where he tallied 215 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns on the ground. I imagine Courtney could make a fantastic transition at the next level to some sort of ball carrier.

[player_tooltip player_id='245638' first='Brayden' last='Talso']: Spring Lake Park 6'1" 175lbs

Another dual-threat QB, Talso has great leg talent. In an uber-run-heavy offense, Talso shines as an option QB. He has almost 650 rushing yards after week 7 and 12 touchdowns. He doesn't make a lot of mistakes when pitching and uses his nimbleness to evade tacklers and constantly slips out of leg tackles. We don't get to see him open up much and use his arm, but I think like Courtney, Talso could find a great home at the next level as a ball carrier.
