It gets real gritty week to week in this classification. You never know who may come out on top. Let’s take a look at this classification.
Louisville
Right now Louisville is a big time favorite in this classification. After a very impressive win against West Point a lot of people across the state started to take notice into what the Wildcats were doing. They have a very stout defense led by Gabriel Moore Gabriel Moore 6'4" | 245 lbs | DL Louisville | 2023 State MS , Christavious Savior Christavious Savior 6'0" | 160 lbs | DB Louisville | 2023 State MS and Laterrius Haynes. These three guys make sure they get up and are ready to play. On offense they have Key Jackson, Xavier Hunt and Swahili Earby who lead that bunch. They also have Jykevious Goss and Jaden Triplett who are big time. Jaden Triplett is a superstar that always makes plays with his speed. These guys are disciplined and they come to play every game.
Itawamba AHS
This team here is loaded and are going to want a piece of that 4A pie this year. They have some transfers from TCPS that have really added to the talent that they already had. Ty Davis is their quarterback who is an absolute stud. Isaac Smith Isaac Smith 6'2" | 180 lbs | ATH Itawamba Agricultural | 2023 State MS is a safety who also holds it down for them at running back. Isaiah Autry Isaiah Autry 6'6" | 280 lbs | OL Itawamba Agricultural | 2024 State MS is a big guy they have holding it down in the trenches. I truly think this team has a chance to make it to the North Half. This team has a lot of talent.
Clarksdale
Clarksdale has a very loaded team and they can score with ease. Kelley Jones Kelley Jones 6'4" | 200 lbs | DB Clarksdale | 2023 State MS is their guy. He puts up a lot of points on their offense running the ball from the quarterback position. He is also a big time player for them on defense. They also have Patrick Broomfield who is a big time playmaker on their defense. This team has to make sure they keep it rolling throughout the playoffs. Last year the fell short in the second round to Louisville after giving up a lead late in the game. Clarksdale has been longing to be champions since 2001. Their fans are ready to see it happen. I truly think they have a chance to make it happen this year if they stay focused. 4A North is not easy.
Columbia
The Columbia Wildcats are holding it down for 4A south. They aren’t doing it by themselves. We get to that later.
Columbia is another Mississippi team led by a sophomore quarterback. A lot of people felt the loss of their last senior class would be a crucial blow to them. It seems they haven’t lost a beat. I haven’t seen them in person so I don’t know much about them. I just know they have a great chance of making it to the state championship.
Mendenhall
Mendenhall has a very stout defense. This is another team that I haven’t seen, but I hear their defense is pretty nasty. They have two different linebackers who are in the top five of tackles.
Greene Co
I think that Greene County has a very good chance to be some worthy contenders this year. Their offense is disciplined and they don’t like a lot of mistakes. Before the season I nicknamed their stars on offense as the three headed monster. These guys are some sleepers, but may be able to get over the hump.
