Top 10 Receivers in the San Diego Section (6-10)

At the beginning of the month, I highlighted the <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2020/07/top-5-san-diego-section-quarterbacks/">top quarterbacks</a> in the <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2020/08/top-san-diego-section-quarterbacks-6-10/">San Diego</a> Section. It is only appropriate that near the end of the month I highlight the receivers who benefit from those outstanding quarterbacks. Kenny Stills and other talented receivers have come from San Diego and the classes of 2021 and 2022 are loaded with talent at the position. Here is a look at five of the top 10 returning receivers in the San Diego Section. <strong>10. Kai Jessie, Patrick Henry, San Diego, 2021</strong> Jessie nearly had 1,000 yards receiving for Patrick Henry last season and had 16 touchdowns. Last season was his first season playing football and he used his 6-foot-5 frame and basketball skillset to make athletic plays. Jessie will play with new quarterback Elijah Ortiz, a transfer from Grossmont with Division 1 tools. Daniel Rosenberg, La Jolla Country Day, La Jolla, 2021</strong> La Jolla Country Day had three 1,000 yard receivers last season and Rosenberg is the lone returner. He led the Torreys with 105 receptions, was second on the team in yards with 1,542 and 17 touchdowns. Rosenberg has the most impressive numbers of anyone in the Section and will likely have another 1,000 yard season as a senior. Dazure Paggett, Lincoln, San Diego, 2021</strong> Paggett is one of the smaller receivers on this list, but he makes up for his lack of size with speed and ability to win one-on-one battles. He transferred to Lincoln from Kearny where he played alongside another talented receiver who almost made this list, <span style="font-weight: 400;">Devonte Koyl-Fleming. He had 540 yards on only 20 catches and had four touchdowns last season. Paggett committed to Nevada on July 7.</span> https://twitter.com/DazurePaggett/status/1286776573215956992?s=20 <strong>7. [player_tooltip player_id="25296" first="Rex" last="Haynes"], Cathedral Catholic, San Diego, 2022</strong> Haynes is arguably the best San Diego receiver in the class of 2022. He is the son of NFL Hall of Famer Mike Haynes. He had 131 yards and a touchdown in only five games for the Dons last season, but his 6-foot-4, 195 pound frame has garnered recruiting attention. Haynes has two offers, one from Colorado State, and one from his dad’s alma mater, Arizona State. [player_tooltip player_id="25211" first="Jessie" last="Campbell"], Mater Dei Catholic, Chula Vista, 2021</strong> Mater Dei is loaded with talent at the receiver position and they have three guys capable of making this list. Campbell was the leading receiver for the Crusaders last season, tallying 21 yards per catch and four touchdowns. He will be even more dangerous this season due to other receivers the defense has to worry about like [player_tooltip player_id="25190" first="Josh" last="Meredith"] and Ray Romero. With Trevor Appleman under-center and this receiving corps, Mater Dei will have one of the most prolific offenses in the Section.
