Risers:
Sherrod is an under the radar force in the Hamilton defense. At 6’2” 215 lbs. he possesses good length and growth potential in his frame with solid weight distribution. He’s a plus natural athlete that can run and work laterally to scrape down the line. He shows good positional versatility, can effectively play LB or DE and use his size/length to his advantage. Tough and aggressive style of play that is always attacking and working downhill. Has played well to open the season and has the tools to be a quality college prospect, should see a bump in his recruiting with a strong junior campaign.
Huerigo’s an active defender that is effective as a run stopper and in coverage. High IQ player, that can quickly diagnose plays and process his reads to put himself in position to be a difference maker. As a run stopper he does a good job stepping up to fill holes between the tackles and can use his lateral agility to get to the outside and chase. He can take on lead blockers and stack them with leverage at the POA and then use his hands to shed and disengage. Showed good ability as zone cover guy that can react to the ball and make plays in the short area. Started all season as a sophomore when he was an honorable mention all-region player and recorded 65 total tackles and nine sacks.
Newcomers:
Gennicks is another under the radar LB prospect that has the size and ability to pop this season. At 6’3” 200 lbs. he’s a rangy three down LB that plays sideline to sideline. He’s got good length and room to add weight to his frame without sacrificing his athleticism and mobility. He’s violent at the POA driving through contact on every tackle with good hip explosion and leverage. Plus anticipation and reactionary quickness to read run/pass and close space on the ball in a hurry. In three games this season, he’s racked up 22 total tackles and three TFL’s. Possesses a ton of upside and potential to build on. Watch his recruiting take off as he develops and is able to showcase his skillset.
Versatile prospect that shows good ability on both sides of the ball after being selected all-region as a two-way lineman last season. At 6’2” 220 lbs. he’s got a well built and powerful frame. He’s a dual-sport athlete (football/rugby) that has impressive natural strength and contact balance at the POA. He’s an aggressive and high motor player that understands leverage and leg drive through contact to overpower opponents. Possesses quick hands and uses them well to keep blockers away from his body and then disengage. Projects as a LB at the college level but does it all for Sunrise and has great positional flexibility to be effective from multiple spots on both sides of the ball.
