Prospect Spotlight: St. Augustine ATH Nasir Hill

The highest ranked prospect on that list of seven, Hill is one of three 2022 prospects from St. Augustine in the top 100. With two 2021 teammates committed to Rutgers and Vanderbilt in NJ’s top 30, Hill’s class carries similar big expectations. Hill is a speedster that lines up on both sides of the ball for St. Augustine. Carrying the ball 49 times for 243 yards last season, Hill gets up the field quickly and effortlessly glides into a high gear. This easy acceleration makes him a threat at WR as well, where Hill caught 19 passes for 225 yards - averaging nearly 12 yards a catch! Long speed isn’t the only trait Hill possesses as a receiver, as his film shows the technical ability to stack defensive backs and win underneath routes. Hill is the perfect example of knowing he has a DB beat when pulling even with him, a lanky target that can change directions rapidly. Hill has soft hands and regularly catches the ball away from his frame, high-pointing passes in traffic and creating yards after the catch. <iframe src="//www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/8848685/5d9f6880f326610ecc8fef3d" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe> On defense, Hill is just as versatile in the St. Augustine secondary. Playing as a boundary corner, cover two safety, and single high safety, Hill tracks the ball with the same mentality he brings to the receiver position at DB - leading to plenty of pass breakups. Playing with quick feet, Hill is difficult to block coming down hill as he never plays too fast or missteps. This is a player with heavy hands, flashing the ability to redirect receivers at the line and also separate them from the ball at the catch point. Capable of flipping his hips and turning at cornerback, Hill uses his length to redirect receivers into coverage or can carry them in man himself. When lined up deep alongside another safety, Hill erases half the field with his range. This 6’1" athlete will have plenty of college coaches vying to get their hands on the Junior. Hill currently holds offers from Buffalo, UMASS, Pittsburgh, Temple, and Syracuse.
