Each of these have been a result of previous talent being lost to graduation, as well as the adjustments in starting the team’s starting lineup due to the additions in talent on their rosters. Below, feel free to take some time to sift through some of the key takeaways we had from a few of our favorite matchups during week 1.
Buford vs. Thompson
Following Buford’s game against Thompson, we have been left with a few takeaways. First, not only do we believe that Buford may have a good season ahead of them, but we also believe that we may have underestimated how efficiently well rounded, and wildly talented their roster is looking to be early on this season. This past Friday, the Wolves seemed to be very underwhelmed defensively against a lesser offense in Thompson, and Buford’s offensive skilled players, such as

, and Malik Spencer also had a great game, and we have a bold prediction that Buford has the talent to make a run this season.
North Cobb vs. Westlake
While the matchup resulted in a close final score, seeing North Cobb defeat Westlake 21-17, one can go on to assume, and takeaway that both teams will more than likely have a promising upcoming season. To start, while Westlake may have lost a few key pieces last season, we still believe that they will have a great season in 2022, even if North Cobb proved that this will not be handed to them. Special teams was a big factor in the result of this game from both teams, as well as clock management, and execution in crucial situations. An additional takeaway that we have is that North Cobb may be poised to have a good 2022 season, especially after playing playoff caliber football in week 1. Players such as

will all most likely have a good season for North Cobb this season.
Lee County vs. Warner Robins
Some of the bigger takeaways following Warner Robins 27-10 loss, includes the fact that we believe that Warner Robins may be in for a bit of a longer season than they may expect. While Warner Robins has historically had a very talented roster, and staff, this season, they seem to be a bit thinner in depth then they have been in the past. While they are very top heavy with some of their stars, such as Vic Burley, Nicholas Reeves, and
Malcolm Brown

, we believe that they are not as talented at the QB position, and at the WR, or TE position as they need to be to compete with some of the better teams in the state. Lee County on the other hand happened to impress, and while we were not expecting their defense to step up like they did, they managed to be able to keep up with the very effective and highly talented offense that they put on the field during this match up.
Lipscomb County vs. Milton
During Lipscomb’s matchup with Milton, many fans may have expected a win from Milton, especially due to the way they have performed within the past few years, but Lipscomb County was surprisingly very dominant in the game. While they each saw an equal amount of plays on the field, Lipscomb did plenty of things the right way, as they saw themselves achieve 12 first downs, on offense, while also limiting themselves to 4 penalties. On defense, their key playmakers stepped up, limiting Milton to only 6 points, compared to their 18. As the season progresses, it will be interesting to track both of these teams to see if they can improve on both sides of the ball, and if Milton can play to their expected potential.
