<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I covered the scrimmages that took place at Rolesville HS stadium on August 10th. I was on the sidelines for two games and observed some talented players on display. I am doing a summary preview of the Vance County HS v. Panther Creek HS scrimmage and the Rolesville HS v. CE Jordan HS scrimmage.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Vance County HS v. Panther Creek HS</strong> - <strong>Vance County</strong>. The scrimmage was competitive from beginning to the end. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='302387' first='Nazir' last='Garrett'], 6'0" 170 (No. 25 QB, No. 189 Overall)</strong> displayed athleticism in being able to run when pressured in the pocket. He displayed good accuracy on the short and medium range passes. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='327925' first='Isreal' last='Terry'], 5'10" 180 (No. 14 DB, No. 127 Overall) </strong>plays on both sides of the ball. He lined up at wide receiver and displayed speed while running pass routes. He made some acrobatic catches during the scrimmage.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='369479' first='Chris' last='Jones'], 6'3" 280 (No. 39 DL, No. 322 Overall) </strong>displayed good technique and quickness out of his stance to control blockers while moving past them for stops. He knocked down a couple of pass attempts during the scrimmage. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='414021' first='Taeshawn' last='Alston'], 6'4" 205 (Watchlist)</strong> displayed quickness out of his stance to make contact with blockers while moving past them for stops. He knocked down a couple of pass attempts during the scrimmage. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='327925' first='Isreal' last='Terry'], 5'10" 180 (No. 14 DB, No. 127 Overall) </strong>displayed good technique and speed to close quickly on the ball carrier for stops. He displayed good change of direction and technique while covering wide receivers, making it difficult to complete a pass against him.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Panther Creek</strong>. <strong>Will Clancy, 6'1" 170, QB</strong>, He displayed good arm strength on the short and medium range passes. He displayed mobility being able to scramble in the pocket. <strong>Kalen Luton, 5'9" 170 (No. 33 RB, No. 218 Overall)</strong> is a shifty runner who changes directions quickly while looking for an opening to accelerate past defenders for yardage. He displayed speed and acceleration past defenders on his into the end zone. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='144720' first='Tyler' last='Thompson'], 6'6" 200 (No. 4 DL, No. 10 Overall) </strong>displayed exceptional quickness out of his stance to make contact with blockers while moving past them for stops. He was in the backfield disrupting the play or making stops for losses, often unblocked on several plays. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='414119' first='Tito' last='Clarke'], 6'1" 265 (No. 50 DL, No. 351 Overall)</strong> displayed good technique and good use of hands to control blockers. He moved well in tight spaces and used upper body strength to stop inside running plays. Tyler and Tito were difficult to block throughout the scrimmage.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Rolesville v. CE Jordan - Rolesville</strong>. The scrimmage started with spirited play from the Jordan offensive unit and the dominance of the talented Rolesville team which took control of the scrimmage. The talented young quarterback, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='371947' first='Braden' last='Atkinson'] (No. 5 QB, Watchlist)</strong> directed the offensive with poise under pressure. He delivered accurate short, medium, and long ball passes on target. Braden handed the ball of to <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='117630' first='Isaiah' last='Jones'], 5'11" 175 (No. 4 RB, No. 36 Overall)</strong> who ran with balance and power on the inside running plays for tough yardage. He displayed speed in the open field while accelerating past defenders for big gains. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='287829' first='Gavin' last='Marks'], 6'1" 265 (No. 3 OL, No. 8 Overall)</strong> displayed good technique and footwork to control defenders while opening lanes for the running backs. He anchored an offensive line which dominated Jordan's defensive line while protecting the quarterback on passing and running plays. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='293255' first='Tamarcus' last='Cooley'], 6'1" 185 (No. 1 DB, No. 4 Overall)</strong> He plays on both sides of the ball. Tamarcus lined up at wide receiver while on offense, delivering devastating blocks on defensive backs. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='126936' first='Noah' last='Rogers'], 6'3" 185 (No.1 WR, No. 1 Overall)</strong> displayed exceptional pass route running and separation from defenders to make highlight film catches throughout the scrimmage. Jordan's defensive backs were unable to defend [player_tooltip player_id='126936' first='Noah' last='Rogers'] during the scrimmage.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='370189' first='Carsten' last='Casady'], 6'6" 275 (No. 40 DL, No. 323 Overall)</strong> displayed good technique and good use of hands to control blockers while moving past them for stops. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='286966' first='Jonathan' last='Hinnant'], 6'3" 200 (No. 4 DL, Watchlist)</strong> was quick out his stance to make contact with blockers to control them while moving in for stops. Carsten and Jonathan both were difficult to block while disrupting the offensive unit throughout the scrimmage. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='293255' first='Tamarcus' last='Cooley'], 6'1" 185 (No. 1 DB, No. 4 Overall) </strong>displayed good change of direction and technique to cover wide receivers, making it difficult to complete a pass against him. He plays on both sides of the ball. Tamarcus lined up at wide receiver while on offense, delivering devastating blocks </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>CE Jordan</strong>. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='376933' first='Aidan' last='Kelly'], 6'2" 200 (No. 18 QB, No. 101 Overall)</strong> displayed good arm strength on the short and medium range passes. He displayed good accuracy on some of the passes and was hesitant on the release on others. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='363265' first='Caiden' last='Chilausky'], 6'6" 215 (No. 11 TE, No. 238 Overall)</strong> was the target of a few accurate passes. He displayed good pass route running and good footwork to make catches in the end zone. Aidan handed the ball of to <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='380042' first='Amareon' last='Blue'], 5'8" 170 (No. 5 RB, Watchlist) </strong>who displayed good balance and change of direction on runs to gain yardage. He displayed good vision while looking for an opening to accelerate past defenders to gain yardage. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='304423' first='Trevor' last='Dury'], 6'5" 280 (No. 18 OL, No. 163 Overall) </strong>displayed good technique and footwork to control defenders while opening lanes for the running backs. He does a good job of using his size as leverage to control defenders. Freshman, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='321266' first='Noah' last='Clark'], 6'1" 265 (No.2 DL, No. 7 Overall)</strong> displayed good technique and footwork to control defenders while opening lanes for the running backs. He moves well downfield connecting with linebackers on the running plays. Noah held his own on the offensive line during the scrimmage and is expected to play on both sides of the ball.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='414022' first='Brandon' last='Wilder'], 6'2" 260 (No. 49 DL, No. 350 Overall)</strong> displayed good technique and good use of his hands to control blockers while moving past them for stops. He moves well in tight spaces to close quickly on the ball carrier for stops. Brandon was the highlight of a defensive unit that was dominated by a very talented offensive unit throughout the scrimmage. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
