Noriega produced a breakout junior season after transferring from Olympian to Hoover, throwing for over 2,600 yards and 27 TDs. He’s a multifaceted passer that’s comfortable from the pocket and can produce explosive plays as an improviser. He navigates away from pressure with great awareness, is slippery/elusive in tight space behind the LOS, and is constantly keeping his eyes downfield looking for open receivers. Noriega, who just picked up his first offer from St. Andrews in December, is one of the top QBs to watch heading into Sunday’s showcase.

has transferred from Olympian to Hoover.
The positives about Noriega are that you can see him go through progressions on film when his first target isn’t available. He doesn’t eye down receivers and is athletic enough to improvise and check down when under pressure.
I had major concerns about his arm strength when watching his film but I saw clips of him from the Redlands camp and he had some more zip on his throws than he did in the fall.

We had some school records when I wrote about the top rushers of the week, and we have a school-record here with the quarterbacks as well.
Noriega set a school-record for single-game touchdown passes with five in a 48-0 win over Valhalla.
He completed 13 of 16 passes for 282 yards. It was only the second time the sophomore has had over 200 yards passing and the 282 is a career-high.
