About Martrell
Expert Analysis
Shiloh Lanphear | Prep Redzone Scout
Martrell is a solid linebacker for the Lafayette Commodores. Wilbourn was a big reason as to why Lafayette was able to keep most opponents under 2 touchdowns per game. His being ranked 11th in 5A is quite notable as there are some perennial powerhouses in 5A. Unfortunately Martrell suffered a season ending injury mid season last year which caused him to miss a significant amount of games. Nevertheless Martrell is a reliable play maker on the field. He is one of the top 10 LBs in his class however with a full season ahead of him that is set to improve. I am willing to say that Martrell’s injury will only motivate him to play harder and show just who he is as a player and prospect.

A dominant presence in 5A last season, Martrell Wilbourn Martrell Wilbourn 6'2" | 195 lbs | LB Lafayette | 2024 State MS was one of the classifications best during 2022. Wilbourn stands at 6’2″ 215 and shows plenty of room to continue to fill out. Wilbourn loves contact and actively seeks it out as the game goes on. He has no issues taking on pulling guards or tackles head on to quickly disengaged in order to get to the ball carrier. As a tackler, Wilbourn is disciplined and rarely misses in space. He is used all over the front at Lafayette, but this is the type of guy that could easily play a MIKE style linebacker in a 3-4 at the next level.
