Illinois Prospects to Watch: Part II

This is part two of my evaluations from our annual Illinois photo shoot. Look for part three of this series to be released on Monday. <hr /> <em><strong>Mike Mizwicki, TE/LB, 6‘4“ 205, 2024</strong></em> Plays for one of the state’s top programs at Park Ridge Maine South HS. Very athletic, flexible, with terrific body control, strong hands, and excellent balance &amp; burst. Will be 230 within a year or two. 4.6 GPA. Excellent basketball player. Looking at Stanford, Michigan, Purdue, and Northwestern. He’s smart, quick, with excellent strength and aggressiveness. Very coachable with the frame to weigh 280. 4.9 GPA. Throws the shot and discus in track. Impressive body control and movement skills. Flexible with good balance. Big-time prospect. Twitter: @jackandersonfb1 &nbsp; <em><strong>Emmett Jeske, OG/OC, 6‘2“ 300, 2023</strong></em> One of the top OG/OC prospects in the Chicago area‘s 2023 class. The DePaul college prep standout is a hard worker with good movement skills and a strong punch. Comes out of his stance quickly and with purpose. Moves well laterally and is technically sound. Picks things up quickly. 3.4 GPA. All-conference. Twitter: @jeske_emmett &nbsp; <em><strong>Nathan Kunickis, QB, 6’2” 205, 2023</strong></em> An upcoming quarterback from Lemont HS. Blessed with a strong arm and excellent mobility. He makes quick decisions and shows pinpoint accuracy. 4.1 GPA. Throws well on the run keeping the defense honest with his speed. Brother Albert plays for Northwestern. He is also an outstanding kicker. Twitter: @kunickisnathan &nbsp; <em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="299566" first="Giovanni" last="Pamfili"], OG, 6’5” 305, 2023</strong></em> Another versatile offensive lineman from the Chicago area. The Hinsdale Central product plays technically sound and excels as a run blocker. Good leg strength and can anchor down. 4.8 GPA. Team leader with a great attitude. Perfectly suited for the guard position. Can even Play center. Twitter: @pamfiligiovanni &nbsp; <em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="161312" first="Josh" last="Janowski"], OC/OG, 6‘3“ 270, 2024</strong></em> Lincoln-Way East has another powerhouse of a run blocker with smarts, technique, and excellent footwork. Very quick coming out of his stance and does a great job of maintaining his blocks. He is also a terrific basketball player who averages 17 points and 10 rebounds a game. Twitter: @janowskijosh &nbsp; <em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="212320" first="Owen" last="Lansu"], QB, 6’1" 160, 2026</strong></em> It’s never too early to look for great players, and a quarterback that’s on everyone’s radar is [player_tooltip player_id="212320" first="Owen" last="Lansu"] nicknamed the zookeeper. Already shows a live arm, very accurate with good running skills. Will play at Downers Grove North HS as a freshman this fall. Also participates in basketball and track. Definitely, someone to remember. Looks great at both running back and linebacker. Very productive ballplayer with good change of direction, intensity, and coachability. Exceptional open-field tackler. 4.0 GPA. Helped lead Fenwick to the 5A state championship in 2021. Does everything well and can certainly play at the next level. Twitter: @lukedalise &nbsp; <em><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="65877" first="Ryan" last="Sims"], WR, 6’3" 200, 2023</strong></em> I was very impressed with this rising senior wide receiver from Marist HS in Chicago. At 200 pounds he runs a 4.58, Catches everything within his frame, and shows excellent separation speed. His route running is precise too. 3.8 GPA and a 27 ACT.
