Team Rankings – Week 5
The 2017 calendar has turned to October, and only three weeks of the regular season remain, meaning we've officially entered the stretch run of the high school football season.
Can you believe it?
The No. 1-ranked squads remain unchanged in all seven classes from 6A to 9-Man in the updated Northstar Football News team rankings.
Totino-Grace's upset of No. 3 St. Michael-Albertville in the big-school class changed the look of the Class 6A rankings entering Week 6. The Eagles moved back into the rankings at No. 5 with the win, while Edina moved up a spot to third.
The Hornets travel to No. 2 Minnetonka on Friday in a battle of two unbeaten teams. Fourth-ranked Lakeville North hosts No. 7 Maple Grove in another battle of two possible Prep Bowl contenders.
Chaska earned its second-consecutive comeback victory with a 20-17 upset win over third-ranked Apple Valley on the road. The Hawks jumped to No. 3 in Class AAAAA, jumping Robbinsdale Cooper, which is also 5-0.
In Class AAAA, No. 6 Marshall remained unbeaten with a 34-13 win over Waseca. With No. 3 Holy Angels playing No. 5 Benilde-St. Margarets, the Tigers have a good chance at moving up after this weekend, provided they stay undefeated.
