Super Sophomores These players have already put up great numbers and are poised to be the leaders of not only their teams, but be the faces on NJ football for the next two years. The next Johnathan Taylor (Salem HS) or Kenny Pickett (Ocean township HS) might be in this group, you never know! DeAngelo Conquest, QB, Overbrook HS DeAngelo is tall and long limbed enabling him to thrown from over the top creating angles most QB’s can’t create. He puts great touch on his deep balls is very accurate on post and seam routs, which is crucial to controlling the middle of the field. He has good mobility and all the experience he’s gained in the last few years given him invaluable experience going forward. DeAngelo has garnered interest from Temple and Rutgers University. https://www.hudl.com/profile/15048188/DeAngello-Conquest/about Luca Gemma, LB, Ramsey HS On several plays Luca is simply too fast to a spot for lineman to get into position and he was too strong for them to stop him, knifing into the backfield for 12 tackles for loss and 5 sacks. He takes the right angles to ensure the tackle and make big plays, which is show by his astounding 53 solo tackles and 5 sacks on the season. These are numbers any senior linebacker would be proud of, so to get them as a sophomore is truly special and has already garnered him a Division 1 offer from Central Michigan. https://www.hudl.com/profile/14600577/Luca-Gemma/about [player_tooltip player_id="220060" first="Trashon" last="Dye"], RB, Passaic County Institute of Technology For a young back, he’s a very patient runner that lets his blocking develop and the acceleration to burst past the second level. He has good footwork and a jump cut that allowed him to get free for over 1100 yards and 9 rushing touchdowns this season. His entire running back film is him dragging, stiff arming or running over multiple defenders with great forward lean and leg drive. If you gon’ tackle Trashon, you better bring somebody else with you, that’s all I’m saying. Trashon’s play has caught the interest of Penn State, Rutgers and Syracuse. https://www.hudl.com/profile/15046130/Trashon-Dye/about Elijah Kinsler, DL, Bergen Catholic At 6’5, 250 pounds with long arms Kinsler has all the measurables college scout crave, and playing for a power house program like Bergen Catholic he will undoubtedly be getting national exposure. His combination of size and speed is elite for a sophomore. He against great talent and speeds past offensive tackles regularly with violent initial contact and has great hand technique to boot. Elijah has drawn interest from Rutgers and Cincinnati, and has already received a D1 offer from the University of Akron. https://www.hudl.com/profile/14756788/Elijah-Kinsler/about Patrick Gilbert, OL, Vineland Patrick already has great size for a high school guard at 6’2, 290, but to be that big as only a sophomore will open some eyes as a college prospect. He is stout at the point of attack against the pass, rerouting defensive tackles with great feet and inside hand placement. What sets him apart from a young age is his mobility. His ability to pull and trap with such effectiveness is truly special and I love how he combos off and climbs to the next level to knock down linebackers. We’re expecting great things from Patrick the rest of the Vineland offensive line. https://www.hudl.com/profile/15180663/Patrick-Gilbert/about [player_tooltip player_id="220095" first="Michael" last="Zarfati"], WR, Middle Township Michael is already 6’1 and long arms and always extends for the catch, which is a great sign of early maturity in a wide receiver. He’s a savvy route runner using his size and leverage to find holes the zone for big gains as he as a 22.6 yards per catch average. He has obviously earned the trust of his OC, and he rewarded that trust with very consistent play. Michael had a TD reception in 7 of the 9 games he played in this season for 451 yards and in one of the games he didn’t catch one, he threw a touchdown pass for a win against Cumberland. Looking forward to big things from Michael in the future. https://www.hudl.com/profile/14506159/Michael-Zarfati/about [player_tooltip player_id="220066" first="James" last="Hill"] Jr., RB, Woodstown 1300 yards and 15 touchdowns as a sophomore really speaks for itself, but let’s go into more detail for the heck of it. James has good speed and the acceleration to get to the edge but I’d classify him as a north/south runner, no dancing around in his film. I think his best asset though, is his great initial explosiveness, allowing him to push up field for inside runs and get to the second level for big gains, averaging over 8 yards a carry for the season. James also has the strength to run through arm tackles and his film shows him dragging defenders for those crucial yards after contact. James’ play has already caught the interest of Rutgers University. https://www.hudl.com/profile/11373914/James-Hill-Jr/about
