It was a cold and windy day in Findlay, Ohio. Sometimes those are the days you find out who wants to compete and who doesn’t. As Coach Michael Robinson said, this is the type of weather where championships are won. It’s the kind of weather that tests your mental strength and your ability to overcome. Today I talk about some young men that overcame and caught my eye. [caption id="attachment_315279" align="alignleft" width="182"] Jack Koerper[/caption] 2024 WR Jack Koerper (Tiffin Columbian) 5’10 150- Koerper is a twitchy slot receiver. His short space quickness and long speed were on display in both the positional drills and the 1v1’s. His explosiveness and vision make him elusive after the catch. He also has played in special teams as a returner. I’m excited to see what the upcoming camp season has in store for Koerper. I’d currently project Jack to the D2 level. [caption id="attachment_315278" align="alignright" width="196"] Ashton Yeager[/caption] 2025 DE/TE Ashton Yeager (Findlay) 6’2 220- I was really impressed with Yeager’s performance. He moves and bends well for a young man of his size. He has a really good repertoire pass rush moves as he can win both on the inside and on the edge. He’s already getting the speed to power transition, but he’s not quite there with the power portion. He started for a strong Findlay HS playoff team as a true freshman. As he continues to grow and get stronger I think he could turn into D1 caliber prospect. [caption id="attachment_315280" align="alignleft" width="182"] Josiah Payne[/caption] 2023 RB Josiah Payne (Chaminade Juliene) 5’8 180- Payne was one who I really thought excelled on the day. He’s well put together at 5’8 180 with a low center of gravity and he can move. Watching him do the shuttle drill he displayed great balance and short area quickness. After He’s got a nice burst off the snap. While he doesn’t have elite long speed, he more than makes up for it with his vision, creativity, and elusiveness. 2023 WR [player_tooltip player_id="163937" first="Adam" last="Hrynciw"] (Fremont Ross) 6’3 170- Hrynciw plain and simple is a long smooth athlete. He has a good release and as a route runner he understands how to use tempo to beat his man. In another display of his athleticism he turned around and played corner and ran step for step with the opposing receivers. Heading into his Senior season, this camp season will be crucial for Hrynciw. I project him as a player who could excel at the D2 level. [caption id="attachment_315281" align="alignright" width="164"] [player_tooltip player_id="315553" first="Andrew" last="Williams"][/caption] 2023 WR [player_tooltip player_id="315553" first="Andrew" last="Williams"] (Napoleon) 5’10 175- Williams is a good-sized receiver that ran good routes all day long. I project him to a slot receiver at the college level. He has a nice release and great ball skills. On one particular play which was a deep route he went up and made a great catch and landed on his back, but still caught it. As I watched some of his Junior film he showed versatility as he lined up in slot, wingback, and in the backfield in the T formation. Based on what I saw in film and at the showcase I think he’s improved in his route running. If he continues to fill out and get stronger I might prefer him as a running back at the next level I project Andrew to the Division 3 level.
