We took a strong look at six 2024 prospects from the Sioux Falls area that were newcomers to our rankings that started inside our Top 20 as we launched these new rankings this month.
Do you want find out who they are? Check out these six prospects that make the future of Sioux Falls football great!
Thomas Heiberger Thomas Heiberger 6'4" | 215 lbs | LB Sioux Falls Jefferson | 2024 State SD | LB | Sioux Falls Jefferson (SD)
2024 Rank: #9 overall, #3 LB
Thomas shows a good burst of speed of the snap for his 6’3 206 pound size to get into the backfield and wreck havoc. As a standup linebacker, Thomas shows great vision between the tackles to identify the opening to run thru the hole and attack the ball carrier. He also has strong stamina with the significant ground he has to carry when attacking the ball, as you do not see him let up at all for the duration of his chase. He also shows significant vision in pass coverage and can jump the route to make noise in the passing lanes. I have a gut feeling with this kid’s size we will be seeing Division I football in his future with increased speed out the gates and increased physicality with his contact.
Jaxsen Grevengoed Jaxsen Grevengoed 5'10" | 185 lbs | WR Sioux Falls Roosevelt | 2024 State SD | WR | Sioux Falls Roosevelt (SD)
2024 Rank: #3 overall, #1 WR
Jaxsen has a straight up bolt of speed when he catches the ball into the open field. His ability to finish his runs with increasing stamina and burst is what makes him such a fantastic deep-route runner in my eyes. He also shows great agility when turning his hips to change his direction especially to his left side. Might I add this young man comes out of the slot, so he can also become a wrecking ball of problems as a slot back on the reverse with all that speed we mentioned. Eyes should be wide-open this summer on this young as the new #1 WR in the Class of 2024, as this young man’s finesse and excellent skillsets is going to take him well with two more years of development with his QB1 Jackson Brouwer Jackson Brouwer 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB Sioux Falls Roosevelt | 2024 State SD as well as his own skillsets he will show off at prospect camps this summer.
Maverick Jones Maverick Jones 5'11" | 170 lbs | RB Sioux Falls O'Gorman | 2024 State SD | RB | Sioux Falls O’Gorman (SD)
2024 Rank: #15 overall, #2 RB
I really enjoy watching the aggression Maverick plays with the second his hands get the football out of the handoff. He shows excellent downhill speed on the inside and has the ability to play very instinctively when getting north-south to get to the outside lanes. He has agile footwork that can twist his hips at a significant level and quickly. Maverick is a RB prospect that can develop better longevity and create more durability of his runs especially once he gets to the second level of the field. The #2 RB in the Dakotas checks in at 15 overall inside our 2024 rankings.
Kade Van Egdom Kade Van Egdom 6'3" | 210 lbs | LB Sioux Falls Christian | 2024 State SD | LB | Sioux Falls Christian (SD)
2024 Rank: #16 overall, #4 LB
Kade didn’t have a whole lot of tape from the 2021 season, but the potential he shows on tape shows a lot about his football future. He shows aggressive hands, and excellent reach with his 6’3 190 pound body to extend for a running back that just might be out of reach for smaller linebackers on our 2024 rankings. Kade opens up a herd of physicality when he gets to attack the ball carrier on those outside lanes with his contact. I also love this kid’s stance and positioning as he puts himself in a consistent stance that looks poised to make a play on the ball when it comes his way. In his sophomore tape, he shows us at Prep Redzone Dakotas that he is a wrap up tackler that doesn’t give a bit to let the defender try to push their body past him. Excited to see more film come out from Kade, as I think this kid has a high ceiling when it comes to the next level.
Evan Haug Evan Haug 6'0" | 170 lbs | ATH Sioux Falls Jefferson | 2024 State SD | DB | Sioux Falls Jefferson (SD)
2024 Rank: #17 overall, #2 DB
Watching Evan’s launch in zone coverage with his footwork was the first skillset I was intrigued with as he finished it that play with a very tough interception to get from the ground level. He also shows a quick trigger to adjust that footwork to unload in the opposite direction with a great contact level in place with a good pad level. Evan might not be the longest cornerback you will ever see, but he certainly shows off a prospect that has a strong work ethic to really punch thru when you need him on any given play. His physicality is what I really like most about his game, and seeing him progress against high ranked WR prospects in other classes, really paints me a strong picture of this kid’s potential looking at his football future. I would be really intrigued to get a read on this young man this summer at Dakotas prospect camps.
Mason Stubbe Mason Stubbe 6'0" | 195 lbs | LB Dell Rapids | 2024 State SD | LB | Dell Rapids (SD)
2024 Rank: #18 overall, #5 LB
When you make the opposing coach throw their hat down, you are doing something right young man! Mason shows an excellent change of direction with his excellent footwork, and his burst comes out big time when getting into the backfield with no one in front of him. His ability to shed off blockers quickly and instinctively, makes this young man a significant problem especially in the backfield and the first level of the field for the offense. Mason looks to be a sideline to sideline linebacker that maintains excellent endurance from start of finish of his reps. Mason probably would have appeared higher on our linebacker rankings with more size (5’10 160), but there is not a doubt in my mind that this young man will get even stronger before the 2022 season which will certainly rise his stock up our rankings. I see this kid as a stockriser in 2022.
