Donohue first popped on my radar a couple years ago during week 1 of the shortened COVID season. He was a sophomore making his first start on varsity and ended up finishing the game with 7 touchdown passes. After that game I had a pretty good feeling that Donohue would cement himself as one of Lake County’s top 2023 prospects. He finished his senior year with 2,039 passing yards and 29 total touchdowns along with being named Grayslake North’s all-time leader in passing yards, completions, and touchdowns. He possesses all the necessary tools to develop into a starting quarterback at the next level. Has above-average footwork and pocket presence and has an overall great feel for the position. An accurate thrower of the football with a very talented arm. One of his more underrated qualities is his ability to break the pocket; he’s a good enough runner to the point where the defense has to account for him when he begins to scramble.

Donohue proved he’s one of the top quarterbacks in Lake County. He’s poised in the pocket, and his escapability and skill in extending plays are through the roof. His arm talent goes without question; he can make all the throws and is above average in the accuracy department. What I was most impressed with is his ability to run the football. He’s a real threat to take it to the house when he breaks the pocket. Finished the game with 2 passing touchdowns and was also Grayslake North’s leading rusher.
