2027 WR Stock-Risers: Midseason Update

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I'm closing out our <a href="https://prepredzone.com/north-carolina/rankings/2027-rankings/">2027 rankings</a> update with a look at some of the senior wide receivers who have impressed this year. I've already gone <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/10/behind-the-scenes-of-the-2027-class-midseason-update/">behind the scenes</a> of the class update and looked at plenty of <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/10/newly-ranked-2027-wrs/">newly ranked players</a>. He's leading the Wildcats in catches, yards, and touchdowns on a receiving corps with plenty of bigger guys. He's a track athlete and true speedster. Watch his tape, and you might wonder if it's sped up. It's not; he's just that fast, and that allows him to spring big plays. At the time of this writing, he's fourth in the state in yardage and leads North Carolina with 16 touchdowns. He's a sudden, shifty receiver who, unlike many other receivers his age, creates a ton of separation with crisp route running. He sinks his hips and disguises his breaks well, allowing him to get open off the line, into cuts, and out of breaks. He's also electric with the ball in his hands. This week, Campbell offered, which only validates my opinion of Thompson. After a productive junior year, he stepped into the alpha role, and he has the skill and attitude to play that role well. His early-season tape shows everything you'd want to see from a future college receiver. Palisades will look for him deep, on screens, and in the red zone on fades and slants. He's playing both ways, with tape that makes you question whether the other players have been slowed down. Obviously, they're not. He's just that quick, and he gets up to full speed in a hurry. That pairs well with an aggressive, wide-open playing style.
