Week 6 Film Room

The film has poured in from some big performances around the state! Below we are breaking down some of the top performers of the week and making sense of some of the top athletes in The Mitten right now.

One of the most "explosive" offensive linemen I have seen yet this year. Gibbons explodes from his stance, initiates contact and flashes extreme power from his lower half. His initial hit is enough to drive even the strongest defensive linemen backwards. I absolutely love the aggression and will to finish blocks through the whistle. Whether it's executing a down block, getting out in space or just needing to open up a hole at the point of attack, Gibbons is excellent. Very underrated player that is moving his way up my board so far this season.

I know that Bryce is a gym rat who loves to throw weight around, and you really see it come to life on the field. All of the squats and extra leg work in the offseason has made Bryce one of the most impactful defensive linemen when it comes to stopping the run. Beyond just the strength to stay in his gaps and eat up double teams, he can move, chase down the ball and has an endless motor. He anchors a strong defensive front and has done an outstanding job of gap control.

Bryan comes from an 8-Player school, but the numbers are incredibly impressive. Over 1,200 passing yards with 15 touchdowns, with another 250+ rushing yards, adding another 4 touchdowns.

He does a great job of reading and reacting quickly, both under duress and just natural progressions. He moves around and buys time and has a strong arm that allows him to fling it downfield with ease. Extremely talented junior with plenty of room to keep evolving.

Carlson is off to a hot start, and Brennan has been an explosive force for the offense. Just this week alone he had another 100+ yard day with 2 more touchdowns, as has become the norm for Hudson.

Brennan is one of the most versatile backs in the area. As great as he is on the ground, which is notable, he is just as dangerous out of the backfield as a pass catcher. Once he gets the ball in space, it is incredibly hard to wrap him up in the open field. He possesses the speed and agility to make guys miss in a phone booth, and then turn on the jets, then nobody is catching him. Explosive athlete with a ton of upside.

I have talked about Ali a bit recently, but this week was a monster game for him and his Crestwood team. Almost 400 yards passing, and 190 yards rushing with 5 touchdowns are some of the outrageous stats from week 6. Watching the film, it was a masterclass.

This kid had to make some incredible plays just to get the ball away. Even under pressure, he kept moving, kept his eyes downfield and was able to find guys with enough space to complete passes. Ali has that 6th sense that allows him to feel the pressure, move and make plays. He knew exactly when to tuck it and get up field, and the defense had no answer for it. Absolutely one of the most impressive players in the entire state of Michigan right now.
