<p class="text-gray-700">Gagnon entered the 2026 season with the reputation as a big-play running back, and he was a workhorse for Mount Abraham/Vergennes in its 34-16 Division III victory over Windsor. Gagnon carried the ball 40 times for 263 yards and three touchdowns in the win. Mount Abraham/Vergennes outscored Windsor 28-8 in the second half to improve its record to 2-0. Gagnon ran for 1,841 yards and 23 touchdowns as a junior, when he returned nine kickoffs for 303 yards and two touchdowns.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Wells was penciled in as a starter at running back, but he's done a fine job filling in for injured quarterback Owen Fox through the season's first two weeks. After scoring four touchdowns in a Week 1 victory over Spaulding, he ran the ball 13 times for 179 yards and three touchdowns during a 35-14 Division II win against U-32. He also passed for a TD and ran in a two-point conversion in the victory. Lyndon Institute trailed 14-8 at halftime, but scored 27 consecutive points in the second half.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Knoth passed for 139 yards and two touchdowns and scored on a 60-yard run in a 34-31 victory over BFA-St. Albans. He also accounted for four touchdowns in a 27-8 Week 1 win against Mount Anthony. Knoth left the BFA-St. Albans game with a leg injury in the fourth quarter, but the SeaWolves erased an 11-point deficit and scored the go-ahead touchdown with 2:20 to play.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">With his team trailing BFA-St. Albans by 11 points late in the fourth quarter, Leggett came up with two big plays to help Burlington/South Burlington pull out a 34-31 victory. First he returned a kickoff 80 yards to trim the BFA-St. Albans lead to 31-26. Then he delivered a successful onside kick that the SeaWolves recovered on the BFA-St. Albans 30-yard line. Backup QB Guthrie Safran completed a 26-yard TD pass on fourth down for the go-ahead TD. Leggett also had an 87-yard TD reception and intercepted a pass in the win.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Huntington-Monroe completed 11-of-15 passes for 248 yards and four touchdowns as St. Johnsbury improved to 2-0 by beating Brattleboro 47-0. Huntington-Monroe, a transfer from California, tossed TD passes of 15, 52, 35 and 50 yards. He has passed for 558 yards in St. Johnsbury's two games. Liam Bresnahan and Henry Semp each caught two touchdown passes in the victory.</p>
