Week 2: Class B Special Teams: Return Men Making an Impact

Skutt Catholic's [player_tooltip player_id='2129213' first='Hudson' last='Friesen'] leads the group, while Scottsbluff's Eric Sabala is close behind. So far through 2 weeks here are Nebraska's Class B leaders in total return yards:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>1. [player_tooltip player_id='2129213' first='Hudson' last='Friesen'] – Skutt Catholic | Jr. | 5'11", 170 | WR/DB</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>145 total return yards | 4 KO returns | 145 KO yards</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Friesen sits atop the Class B return leaderboard with 145 yards, all coming on four kickoff returns. That works out to better than 36 yards per return. He has shown the ability to give Skutt excellent field position when opponents put the ball in his hands. Hudson also has contributed 4 catches for 98 yards and 1 TD. Just a Jr. with good size and versatility!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>2. His 131 kickoff-return yards on only three opportunities stand out — nearly 44 yards per return. The Bearcats are 2-0 and head to York in Week 3. The senior is also a two-way contributor at halfback and defensive back for Pius X. The sophomore has 89 yards on four kickoff returns, averaging better than 22 yards per opportunity. With Workman and Hanshaw, Beatrice has two different return options capable of helping flip field position. A state champion wrestler as a freshman this kid is one to keep an eye on over these next three years!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Two things jump out through the early season: Friesen and Sabala have been the most explosive, while Beatrice is the only school with two players among the top five. Friesen leads with 145 yards, but Sabala's 131 kickoff yards on just three returns gives him the best kickoff-return average of the group.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
