Summer Spotlight: Skill-Position Studs Ready to Pop in 2026

There aren't many camps and no games to attend right now, but that doesn't mean we at Prep Redzone are sitting on our hands. On the contrary, we are hard at work. All throughout the summer, we'll be taking a look at some top returning starters and young prospects who will make a big impact as the season rolls around this fall, spotlighting several prospects. Here is our summer scouting notebook:    Cassius Downing is a running back for Avon High School. Downing, a Class of 2028 prospect, runs through contact effectively and finishes forward. Downing can make defenders miss initially in space. He is also a solid dual-threat who can catch out of the backfield and quickly get vertical. Physical runner who can be hard to bring down.     Maddon Martin is a starting Class of 2028 cornerback for South Bend St. Joseph. Martin displays very good coverage skills. He has good use-of-hands to beat press, make plays on the ball and good timing to break up passes. Martin can play both press and off, and he displays good open-field tackling in space against the run. Keep an eye on his development.     Farrel Wilson IV is a safety for Warren Central High School. Wilson, a Class of 2028 recruit, flashes excellent coverage skills. He can break on the ball effectively, undercut routes and make interceptions, flashing ability to take the ball to the house after the INT. Wilson also flashes being a heavy hitter and thumper who can dislodge the ball with force. Keep an eye on his development.     Emmytt Mcfarland is a Class of 2028 running back for South Decatur High School. McFarland is a strong small-school tailback who finishes forward on contact. He is also a strong blocker when aligning as a fullback, unafraid to get physical with defenders and drive them off the ball to create running lanes for his teammates. He has a solid frame with a height/weight of 5-foot-10, 170 pounds and also has solid multipart athleticism as a guard in basketball.
