2027 LB Brennon Smith is an interesting projection at linebacker for the next level, even if his current role at Nicholas County looks different. He’s lined up at defensive end and stand-up EDGE for the Grizzlies, but I see his frame fitting better at outside linebacker in college. Smith is physical on both sides of the ball and is a strength of his game. Defensively, he gets out of his stance quickly and has the strength to drive offensive tackles backward despite giving up some size at his position. Smith is an under-the-radar senior whose traits should intrigue colleges and is worth a look.

2027 Nicholas County LB Brennon Smith is flying under the radar, but his senior film deserves more attention. Smith has been playing defensive end and stand-up EDGE for the Grizzlies, but I like his frame more as an OLB at the next level. He plays with physicality on both sides of the ball, and that shows up at running back and as a blocker. Smith fires out of his stance quickly and has the strength to knock offensive tackles backward despite being smaller for the position. There’s real value in his game, and Smith could develop into a hidden gem for a college program if they get eyes on his tape.

RETURNING STANDOUT

Length and athleticism give 2027 LB/EDGE Brennon Smith plenty to build on entering his senior season. Smith showed encouraging flashes coming off the edge as a junior and has the versatility to line up as a defensive end or in a stand-up EDGE role, where his frame is a better fit. He plays with a high motor from snap to whistle, and that effort carries over to special teams as well. With another year of experience under his belt, Smith is in line to become one of Nicholas County’s top defensive playmakers this fall.
