PRZNY Team Previews: Williamsville North Spartans

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Last Season (6-3)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>After beginning the 2025 season with two straight losses to Class AA opponents, the Spartans went on a 6-game winning streak; all against league opponents. In that time, Williamsville North averaged 37.1 points per game and earned the #1 seed heading into the playoffs. A three year varsity player, Cal has been an explosive pass rusher and excellent D-Lineman while also being used as a tough runner at RB. In a backup role at RB, Leo ran for 300 yards and 6 TDs and was third on the Spartans with 42 tackles and added 3 takeaways at CB. He was also Will North's main kick returner. He is short in stature but it helps him get lost behind the big men up front and once he breaks through, he has the speed to take it the distance. He has good balance and solid vision. A seasoned line led by Godell will be what gives the Spartans that push over the hump. Spencer blocks to the whistle and moves extremely well. He can run between the tackles at RB but is mostly used in the slot as a tough route runner. He can go over the middle but also has the ability to stretch the field. Eamon was by far Will North's best WR, leading the team in catches, yards and TDs. They will then take on a stretch of 7 straight Class A opponents including newly added Orchard Park on October 9. Clarence on 9/25 and West Seneca West on 10/16 will be their main competitors.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Spartans surprised a lot of people by winning their division and the #1 seed last season. They are coming in with a lot of senior leadership, especially on the O Line and should defend their division title successfully. I expect them to be in the final four in Class A in their quest to bring hom their first Sectional title since 2013.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
