Continue ReadingThe defensive line position group has long been thought of as the top in the state for the class of 2022 with 5 of the guys on today’s list currently committed to Power 5 schools. These will be names most are familiar with as they have been dominant on the gridiron so far this year.
Jaheim Oatis Jaheim Oatis 6'4" | 345 lbs | DL Columbia | 2022 State MS | Columbia
Oatis is a near 350lb monster in the middle of the defensive front and Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide took notice early. Potential NFL inside tackle that moves extremely well with his given size. Oatis has been the top recruit in state for years at this point and his tape easily justifies it.
Jacarius Clayton Jacarius Clayton 6'5" | 255 lbs | DL Tupelo | 2022 State MS | Tupelo
Size that will allow him to play on the end or in the middle with his elite length are the first things noticed with Clayton. The Tupelo defensive star is currently committed to Ole Miss after flirting with Mississippi State earlier in the recruitment period. Clayton currently has 44 tackles and 3 sacks with one of the state’s best defenses up in Northeast Mississippi.
Zxavian Harris Zxavian Harris 6'6" | 310 lbs | DL Germantown | 2022 State MS | Germantown
Speaking of size, Harris at 6″7 365 lbs isn’t going to lose any strength or size battles. Much like Oatis, Harris has potential to be an inside NFL guy. Harris has had an intense recruitment which resulted in his commitment to Ole Miss in early July. The 2021 season has seen 48 tackles and 4 sacks for Harris.
Aaron Bryant Aaron Bryant 6'4" | 300 lbs | DL Southaven | 2022 State MS | Southaven
No player has blown up in 2021 in the same way that Bryant did over the last summer. The Southaven star pledged a commitment to Texas after gaining offers from seemingly every Power 5 school in the country. Bryant is a traditional nose guard type that explodes off the ball and stuffs the run. The Long Horns are getting a good one in Bryant.
Jeremy Jackson Jeremy Jackson 5'11" | 290 lbs | DL Pearl | 2022 State MS | Pearl
Jackson has been a staple up front on a good Pearl defense for Coach Justin Hunter. A great motor is the defining trait for Jackson and it quickly shows. The recruiting period is still waiting to take off but the potential is there and the MS/AL All Star game will be a great opportunity for eyes to get on him.
RJ Moss RJ Moss 6'4" | 250 lbs | DL Biloxi | 2022 State MS | Biloxi
Moss is a traditional end rusher that gets to the quarterback. Lean, muscular build that allows him to win with speed and leverage against tackles. The Mississippi State commit seems to be a perfect fit into their 3-3-5 scheme. Moss has been a bright spot for a Biloxi team that has had a disappointing 2021.
Trevion Williams Trevion Williams 6'5" | 250 lbs | LB Crystal Springs | 2022 State MS | Crystal Springs
The Crystal Springs native is another guy who has had a massive 2021 season and seen his recruiting stock take off as a result. The physical EDGE rusher has an impressive offer sheet and has been a hot name on the recruiting trail. Williams is a guy that coaches see huge potential to rush the QB from. Great strength and athletic intangibles.
