2027 Stock Rising Defenders to Monitor

I selected 5 defenders to keep an eye as we go into camp season. I believe these prospects can boost their stock with strong camp performances and ride that momentum into the regular season. Let's dive into my analysis.    Jones is currently flying under the radar, but with a strong camp performance he won't much longer. Measures in at 6'2 240-pounds. The defensive lineman had 45 total tackles (14 solo, 31 assisted), 5 TFL, 4 sacks, with 5 QB pressures. Jones has good athletic ability due to good acceleration, speed, lateral quickness, and balance. Very good strength, with good hand placement and hand strength. He explodes out of his stance with his very good initial quickness and creates first contact with his very good hand speed. Good get off and block shedding to disengage from the block and get the tackle. Uses leverage and power to attack the OL. However, he has a nice swim move in his back pocket. Jones uses his very good competitive toughness and pursuit to chase after the ball carrier. He'll help teammates finish up tackles too. Rising prospect to know.     Davis is a name to become aware of this camp season. He's an intriguing WR/DB combo. Measures in at 6'0 180-pounds. Last season, he had 34 receptions for 370 yards with 4 touchdowns, 5 carries for 57 yards with 1 rushing touchdown, 38 total tackles (23 solo, 15 assisted), 6 TFL, 1 sack, 6 INT, 4 PD, and 1 FR. Davis has good athletic ability due to very good jumping, change of direction, good speed, and acceleration. Very good read and reaction speed. Diagnoses what's going on and attacks. Good back pedal. Davis sticks to the wide receiver like glue in man coverage. Uses his very good closing quickness and timing to break up passes and intercept the ball. Very good ball tracking and catching. Good tackling and a willingness to help teammates finish up tackles. Davis is also reliable receiver. With more spotlight on his game, he should get some more looks.     Pond is a two-way prospect playing LB/TE. He measures in at 6'1 215-pounds. Last season, he had 40 total tackles (23 solo, 17 assisted), 2 TFL, 1 sack, 2 PD, 12 receptions for 183 yards with 3 touchdowns. He has good athletic ability due to very good lateral quickness, change of direction, good speed, acceleration, and jumping. Good read and reaction speed. Pond uses his athleticism and lateral quickness to achieve good sideline to sideline range or into his zone. He's a productive run stopper. When blitzing, he uses his good take off speed and gets low to out leverage the OL. Stuffs gaps and uses his tackling to wrap up ball carriers with ease. Pond has also shown to be a productive blocker on the offensive side. I'm intrigued to see how he does this off-season.     Reddix measures in at 6'0 170-pounds. He's an intriguing prospect playing WR, FS, and P. Last season, he had 21 total tackles (12 solo, 9 assisted), 1 TFL, 1 sack, 5 PD, 2 FR, 7 catches for 126 yards with 2 touchdowns, with 3 punts for 84 yards. Reddix displays good athletic ability due to very good jumping, change of direction, good acceleration, and speed. Good read and reaction speed. Watches the QB's eyes to put himself in position to make a play on the ball. Good zone and man coverage. Very good closing quickness and timing to swap the ball out of the air. Reddix has good tackling too. Not afraid to get his hands dirty in the run game. As a receiver, he demonstrates a good release with good ball tracking and catching. With more reps next season, look for him to take that next step in his development.     Krza measures in at 6'1 205-pounds. He plays varsity baseball too. Last season, the linebacker ha 42 total tackles (17 solo, 25 assisted), 1 TFL, 1 INT, with 5 PD. Krza demonstrates good athletic ability due to very good change of direction, lateral quickness, acceleration, good jumping, and speed. Krza has good read and reaction speed. Uses his lateral quickness and athleticism to have very good range. Does good in both pass coverage and against the run. Krza stuffs up gaps and uses his good block shedding and get off to get the tackle. Good tackling paired with good strength. Krza does a great job create pass deflections whether at the line of scrimmage or out in coverage. He's an intriguing linebacker to keep an eye on.
