Recorian Williams MLB Bessemer
Williams is an old-school linebacker who is consistent in his contributions as a run stopper. He patrols the middle of the field and anchors the defense with fundamentally sound tackles and discipline. He does an excellent job of limiting false steps and getting to the gap and meeting the running back head-on. Throughout the game, he showed the stamina of an every-down backer and a willingness to compete on every down. His traditional style will flourish in a 3-4 system where he can maximize his abilities as a run stopper at the college level.
Jake Smithson QB Brookwood
Smithson was primarily used as a runner but also showed flashes with his passing ability. His baseball background beamed throughout the night with various off-platform throws, alternate arm angles, and throws on the run. His shiftiness and compact frame allowed him to make defenders miss when making plays from scratch. He has nice accuracy in the intermediate game and shows good velocity on majority of his throws. Smithson projects to be a solid JUCO QB who could develop into a solid scholarship athlete.
Latrayl Thompson LT Bessemer
At 6’3 287 pounds Thompson already has next-level size, but he also has a college motor. He routinely drove defenders yards past the line of scrimmage and was the leading man to run behind for the Tigers. In addition to that, he played to whistle on every down. Thompson did an excellent job of getting out of his stance smoothly and locking on to his target. Showed great strength and ability to dominate his competition. Thompson will gain more nuance and technical skills as he goes through his journey of graduation in 2024.
Wyatt Smith WR Brookwood
Smith is a compact receiver whose rugged, reliable, and crafty. He does a superb job of working the sideline with toe-drags and leaning catches. Smith also does a substantial job presenting a target to the quarterback in scramble situations and doesn’t die on the play. In addition to that, he can make the tough contested catches and is reliable in gaining yards after the catch. Though he won’t wow you with athleticism, Smith is a player who finds a way to be productive and can contribute if given an opportunity.
Eric Hawkins OLB Bessemer
Hawkins is an explosive stand-up linebacker that makes plays on the ball routinely. His quick first step allows him to penetrate the backfield and be disruptive, causing tackle for losses and sacks. Hawkins often wins with speed and pursuit and has a solid grasp of setting the edge and not breaking containment. He is physical, consistent with his pad level, and wrapping up his opponent as a tackler. Hawkins could contribute as a rotational linebacker at the college level who can bring the spark and quickness off the edge.
