Samuels turns up in the recent Prep Redzone rankings release as the No. 28 player overall in Iowa’s 2029 Class. The MOC-Floyd Valley sophomore is listed third at tight end, where he most certainly could develop into an impactful force. There’s also a chance that happens on defense thanks to the high-end athleticism in a projectable frame. We should get a clearer picture what the path to college football might be positionally this season following another offseason of training. There’s agility and speed. He played basketball and ran sprints in track as a ninth-grader last year. Expect Samuels to take a significant step forward on the gridiron this fall for the Dutchmen.
MOC-Floyd Valley only had two freshmen record statistics on the varsity in 2025, and Samuels was one of them. He carried the ball once and registered 3.0 tackles. Samuels spent the rest of his time developing in hopes of a larger role next season. He hasn’t posted any clips on his Hudl page from this past fall, but we can see him in action as an eighth-grader. Samuels is bigger, strong and faster than the competition. That tracks with the multi-sport path he’s on. Samuels is playing basketball this winter, and reports running the 200 meters in 22:4 seconds and the 100 in 12.3. Keep an eye on this kid.
