This winter I attended a coaching clinic where I watched Delaware Head Coach, Jersey native, and quarterback expert Ryan Carty discuss play at that position. He brought to attention the idea of a “foot arrow,” which basically means your foot leads to your intended spot you are throwing to and your body is aligned with it. I bring this up because I noticed Rocco Arturo Major inherently adopt these mechanics. Rather than pointing to where his target is, Major pointed his toe toward where he wanted the ball to be delivered. He also, like Carty discussed, gathered and strides into his throws for accurate deliveries.

Fun kid to watch out of Saint Francis Prep Rocco Major, he is going to a playmaker for years to come in NYC. Major threw some darts in the 1vs1s, his testing numbers are on par for this group with his broad jump (7’6) being his best mark. A rising freshman who seems to have some moxie, he will be fun to cover for Corey Lemer and my New York companions.

- Major was one of the late QB additions for the Rise, and he showed up wearing #102. The talented Long Island Elite Signal Caller will attend St. Francis Prep in the fall.
Major held his own with a challenging and impressive QB group and while I did not watch all his reps I managed to catch a good amount of 1v1’s and 7v7’s. He showed good poise, and he worked through progressions well. He has a strong arm, and good accuracy. Adding some more practice to his mechanics and footwork can help him improve.

Major is a late addition and an underrated prospect I am ready to see compete this weekend. The future St. Francis Prep prospect, has great size at 6’0″ 195-Pounds, and can seriously sling the ball. With a stacked QB group, I am curious how the Long Island Elite QB will compete against a talented QB group this weekend.

Maybe the youngest QB heading to the PRZ NJ Exposure Series on Saturday, Rocco has the chance to put himself on the map before the season begins. While there isn’t much tape or info about Rocco, being part of the 2030 class shows that he is a player ready to compete with the upperclassmen, showing moxie and confidence in his skills on the field.
