Notes: Watkins is a very high upside and freaky athlete with outstanding ball skills, downfield speed and seperation abilities in the open field. He is strong and physical off the ball with high-point abilities and boxes out smaller defenders in the red-zone and is a mismatch nightmare on the outside with tons of untapped potential with a sizable frame and elite length and natural athleticism.

Frontier (Bakersfield) defensive back Mekhai Watkins Mekhai Watkins 6'1" | 175 lbs | DB Frontier | 2027 CA announced his commitment to Fresno State on Wednesday.

Watkins had 55 tackles with three interceptions for Frontier last season.

He also had offers from Cal Poly, Sacramento State and UNLV. Watkins is one of 20 players from California in Fresno State’s 2026 recruiting class and one of two defensive backs.
