, who led the Eagles from the QB spot last fall, AV has some serious size in the trenches. Pushing the scales for the 5A competitor off the edge is 6’1, 220 lber. Jay’Shawn Smith, who, despite missing four games due to injury in 2025, put some noteworthy production as pass rusher against quality offensive linemen. Smith can start/stop and change direction well out on the edge and in space, which helps him stay assignment-sound and defend against read-option attacks, as well as corral QBs attempting to scramble in and outside the pocket. The 220 lber. shows some physicality at the contact point, the motor to run down ball carriers from the backside of the LOS, and the junior tape proved him to be a three-down DL who can make an impact in both run and pass defense. Local DIIIs, NAIAs, and JUCOs should get in touch, and we hope to see Smith and some Apple Valley teammates in Plymouth for April 18th PRZMN Spring Exposure Showcase!
