[player_tooltip player_id="39430" first="Darius" last="Cowens"], Pacifica, 2023
Cowens has been fantastic all season but mostly against weak competition. They had a close game against Canyon (Anaheim) but Pacifica had starters missing so its 42-39 win over Brea Olinda in week five is the Mariners best win of the season. Cowens threw for 345 yards with three touchdowns and he also ran for 111 yards and two touchdowns. He is one of the best dual threat quarterbacks in the class and his recruitment should pick up soon after a hot start as a freshman.

[player_tooltip player_id="142015" first="Daniel" last="Duran"], Sierra Canyon, 2022
Sierra Canyon was on a two-game losing streak heading into its game against a tough Norco team in week five. The Trailblazers had a nice two touchdown win after getting to an early lead. Because of the level of competition and his numbers, that was Duran’s best game of the season. The lefty only had 10 completions but threw for 244 yards and two touchdowns. Duran has offers from Lehigh and Holy Cross.

Jake Long, La Serna, 2023
Many people considered La Serna to be an underdog against a solid young Culver City team. La Serna prevailed in that game, largely due to its defense causing four turnovers, but also in part because Long played so well. The junior quarterback threw for 270 yards and two touchdowns on just 14 completions. The yardage is a career-high for Long.

Elijah Mitchell, El Rancho, 2022
El Rancho is off to a hot start to the season with a 6-0 record and Mitchell has been outstanding. He will easily be a 2,000 yard passer and he has 18 touchdowns compared to just three interceptions so far. Mitchell completed 71 percent of his passes for a career-high 309 yards and four touchdowns in a 34-7 win over Norwalk.

Alex Zappia, Mira Mesa, 2022
Zappia did not have the glaring numbers that quarterbacks who are featured on here typically have, but he made huge plays in the clutch which gets him on here. He led Mira Mesa to a very good 13-7 win over Grossmont in which he threw both of Mira Mesa’s touchdowns in the game. Zappia only had eight completions but had 186 yards passing. Zappia is also a 4.0 student.
