About Michael

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Fast, physical, with great technique and a positive attitude. I am the only player on the team who is a starter on offense, defense and special teams.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am highly motivated and focused on playing to the highest of my abilities. I am my hardest critic. I believe that I can conquer anything.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Junior Paralympics with my younger sister Danica. I am also a member of the bodybuilding, Italian and FBLA clubs at school. I am a member of the Italian Honor Society and National Honor Society My father and I are members of the Sons of the American Revolution.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I am a positive role model for younger players and help to mentor them. I lead by example. I am a two-year varsity starter (soph & jr) in the toughest conference in the country.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

The level of commitment to play at St Joe's Metuchen is very high and I have been able to meet and exceed my coaches and teacher's expectations.

What type of college are you looking for?

Competitive with high academic standards at any division based on best fit.

Joining Edwards as an import to St. Joseph Metuchen this fall is Michael Wellet, III Michael Wellet, III Michael Wellet, III 5'11" | 215 lbs | LB/TE St. Joseph | 2026 State NJ . Wellet is a linebacker with the versatility to play all over a defensive front. As a blitzer, Wellet times the snap well, and if he cannot get home he matches the quarterbacks hand. Moreover, Wellet is the type of prospect that is schematically sound and will never be out of position. He bails to his drops as quickly as he can and plays down hill due to his ability to read his keys. Wellet would benefit from using his hands to shed and take on blockers, while lowering his pad level when tackling.
