Week 5 Preview: Division 3

Throughout the 2021 season, there has been some great football in Division 3 here in Ohio.  There are some great games this week to say the least.  Here are five Division 3 games to watch in week 5. Steubenville vs Dover On Friday night, the Steubenville Big Red will play the Dover Crimson Tornadoes.  The Big Red are currently undefeated at 4-0.  They are currently ranked 2nd in the maxpreps Division 3 rankings.  Last week, they defeated USO (PA) 34-0.  They have averaged 35.5 points per game while giving up only 7.5 points per game.  The Crimson Tornadoes are also undefeated and are currently 3-0.  They are ranked 12th in the maxpreps Division 3 rankings.  Last week, they defeated Akron East 28-14.  They have averaged 30.67 points per game while giving up 11.67 points per game.  The players from the Prep Redzone Rankings who will be playing in this game are WR [player_tooltip player_id="123035" first="Brenten" last="Jones"], RB [player_tooltip player_id="123034" first="Rodney" last="James Jr"] from Steubenville and QB [player_tooltip player_id="187974" first="Ayden" last="Hall"] and  DL [player_tooltip player_id="186394" first="Ryan" last="McVicker"] from Dover. Baden vs Ross On Saturday, the Baden Rams will play the Ross Rams in what looks to be an exciting game.  Baden is currently undefeated at 4-0 and are ranked 4th in the Division 3 maxpreps ranking.  Last week they were victorious 30-17 over Roger Bacon.  They have averaged 27.25 points per game while giving up only 7.75 points per game.  The Ross Rams are also undefeated at 3-0 and last week, they defeated Valley View 21-17.  The Ross Rams are currently ranked 9th in the Division 3 maxpreps ranking.  They have averaged 30 points per game while giving up 20.67 points per game.  The players from the Prep Redzone Rankings that will be playing in this game are DL [player_tooltip player_id="34487" first="Logan" last="Neu"] and DL [player_tooltip player_id="175827" first="Hunter" last="Harrison"] from Badin.  Some players from Ross to watch are OL Landon Herrmann and RB/DB Kyle Becker. Columbian vs Mansfield Senior On Friday night, the Columbian Tornadoes will play the Mansfield Senior Tygers.  The Tornadoes are 2-2 and are ranked 11th in the Division 3 maxpreps ranking.  Last week, they defeated Mayfield 40-10.  They have averaged 36.5 points per game and have given up 19.5 points per game.  Mansfield Senior is 3-1 and were defeated 20-17 by West Holmes.  They are currently ranked 21st in the maxpreps Division 3 rankings.  They have averaged 23.25 points per game while giving up 13.75 points per game.  The player from the Prep Redzone Rankings who will be playing in this game is DB [player_tooltip player_id="34412" first="Aveon" last="Grose"].  Some players from Columbian to watch are QB Brayden Roggow and WR Maddox Simcoe. St Vincent-St. Mary vs Sandusky In a battle between the alma maters of LeBron James and Orlando Pace, the St-Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish will play the Sandusky Blue Streaks on Friday night.  The Irish are 2-2 and defeated Wooster 42-10 last week.  They have averaged 26 points per game while giving up 22.25 points per game.  The Blue Streaks are also 2-2 and last week lost 17-16 against Padua Franciscan.  The Blue Streaks have averaged 28.75 points per game and have given up 17.5 points per game.  The players from the Prep Redzone rankings who are playing in this game are DL [player_tooltip player_id="127307" first="Riley" last="Defibaugh"], OL [player_tooltip player_id="182040" first="Tariq" last="Montgomery"], DL [player_tooltip player_id="175820" first="David" last="Robinson"] from St. Vincent-St. Mary.  Some players from Sandusky to watch are RB Desmond Williams and QB Michael Franklin. St. Francis DeSales vs Buchtel On Saturday, the St. Francis DeSales Stallions will play the Buchtel Griffins in a game where both teams will look to gain momentum after a slow start.  The Stallions are currently 1-3 and were defeated 17-7 by Clinton-Massie.  They have averaged 23.5 points per game and have given up 20.5 points per game.  The Griffins are also 1-3 and last week were defeated 42-7 by Cleveland Heights.  They have played extremely tough competition over the last 3 weeks as their opponents combined record from the previous 3 games is 10-2.  The players from the Prep Redzone Rankings that are playing in this game are LB [player_tooltip player_id="91509" first="Jonathan" last="Thompson"] from DeSales and LB [player_tooltip player_id="189518" first="Marques" last="Turner"] from Buchtel.
