Expert Analysis
Matt Tate | Prep Redzone Scout
Bonafede showed out in the win against Air Academy in round 1. The 5’10 170-pound senior had 8 receptions for 141 yards and 1 touchdown with 1 carry for 12 yards, 1/2 for 6 yards passing. Bonafede has very good athletic ability due to very good speed, acceleration, change of direction, and good jumping. Very good release. Very good separation quickness due to out running the DB at the top of the route, or will sit in an open void waiting patiently for the catch. Fluid route running and quick breaking into his route. Very good catch in traffic, not afraid of going over the middle. He even got some use as wild cat QB. One play that stood out to me was on a jet sweep pass. After receiving the ball, he used his good stiff arm to turn a would be TFL into a 20 + yard gain. Very impressed with this young receiver.

Bonafede has developed into one of the more polished and dangerous receivers in 4A. With 49 receptions for 583 yards and 6 touchdowns, he’s been a consistent weapon in the passing game. Bonafede creates separation with precise route running, using double moves and elite footwork to leave defenders guessing. His ability to gain yards after the catch and make plays in space has elevated his team’s offensive efficiency. As the regular season winds down, Bonafede looks determined to make a late surge and put himself on the recruiting radar. His production, combined with his football IQ, makes him a player to keep a close eye on heading into the postseason.
