Knapp was a defensive anchor for Skyline last season. He had 108 total tackles (56 solo, 52 assisted), 5 TFL, 1 sack, with 1 FF, and 4 FF. Knapp has good athletic ability due to very good acceleration, lateral quickness, good balance, and speed. Good read and reaction speed with good mental processing. Knapp has explosive take off speed when blitzing. Uses a low pad level to get through the blockers and into the backfield. Does a great job stuffing the run. Good pass coverage. Knapp has a strong base to stop the running back in their tracks. Very good strength. He’s an exciting player to watch, and I’m looking forward to seeing how he does this off-season.
Knapp established himself as one of the most productive middle linebackers in the group, finishing with 108 total tackles, five tackles for loss and one sack. His vision between the tackles stands out, as he diagnoses plays quickly and shoots gaps just as fast to disrupt plays before they develop. Knapp shows sideline to sideline range and closes the gap fast, making him a top tier open field tackler. He consistently breaks down and chops down ball carriers with good technique. Building on this momentum will be key as he aims to duplicate that production next season and attract increased attention from college programs evaluating instinctive, high motor defenders.
Knapp has been the definition of controlled chaos this season, flying around the field with purpose. With 84 total tackles, five tackles for loss, a sack, one forced fumble and three fumble recoveries, Knapp’s production speaks volumes about his instincts and toughness. He plays sideline to sideline with relentless effort, often finding himself around the football regardless of where the play develops. His ability to track down runners and finish with authority makes him a leader on any defense. Knapp’s motor never stops and his ability to create turnovers gives his team extra opportunities. Through eight weeks, he’s become one of the most reliable and disruptive defenders in 4A.
