Dominant Defensive Performances of Week 7

Colleges coaches should be jacked up with the amount of uncommitted senior talent remaining here in Wisconsin. Just on the defensive side alone we have game changers at DB, LB, and on the DL still looking for their college homes. In today's article we will talk about several. We also have a strong crop of that next wave of juniors that the upper levels of college football will want to have on their radars. We have plenty of tape to watch through, so let's get started!    Stats: 10 Targets, 5 PBUs, 1 INT   One of my favorite senior DBs in the state is Racine Case CB [player_tooltip player_id='1251525' first='Jaylen' last='Garrett']. Long, lean, quick feet and hips, with speed to be able to turn and run with receivers. The senior demonstrated that he can play tight man coverage while lining up tight or in off coverage during Week 7. He has outstanding ball skills, getting his hands on 60% of the passes thrown his way this past week. I love the way he trusts his athleticism downfield, undercutting routes and then recovering to get his hands on the ball. You need to dive into these highlights if you are a team looking to add CB help for 2026.      Stats: 3 Tackles, 1 PBU, 2 Pick Sixes   One of the most dynamic talents in the state is junior DB/WR [player_tooltip player_id='1045089' first='Dustin' last='Roach']. We have covered some of his outstanding offensive performances, and now he is back for his defensive dominance in Week 7. Both of the junior's pick sixes came on the back of excellent reading and reacting. Dustin read the QB like a book, showed off his range from the safety position, and easily jumped routes for the interception then did a great job of getting it into the endzone both times. The next play after the picks you see the three down versatility as he goes from 10+ yards deep to making a tackle against the run at the line of scrimmage. Dustin has the physical and mental tools to allow CM to play him single high and really stack the box if they want to. Dustin is a legitimate FBS talent and I believe we could see him at the Power 4 level.     Stats: 14 Tackles   I loved what I saw from Jameson a few weeks ago when I watched New Richmond live. He has kept up his dominance since then, turning in a 14 tackle week in Week 7. The senior made so many plays thanks to his play recognition, sideline to sideline range, and hard-hitting tackles. The senior has developed his mental and physical skillsets allowing him to play fast and loose. Jameson does a great job of staying clean while playing ILB too. He is tough to land a block on.      Stats: 11.5 Tackles, 1 TFL, 1 Sack, 1 FR, 1 INT   Week 7 was a great display of three down talents for junior ILB [player_tooltip player_id='1540874' first='Keaton' last='Wollan']. The 205 lbs junior has a great frame to continue to build on at the next level. A frame that has shown it can muscle through blocks and drop ball carriers instantly. Keaton stands out because he can do the dirty work between the tackles, but then he can also drop deep into coverage and snag INTs with natural hands. Big, strong and athletic LBs are not easy to find, so make sure this 2027 is on your recruiting boards.      Stats: 4.5 Tackles, 1 Sack, 2 TFLs   Brett plays in the 8 man league and has become an impact player at DE and TE. The senior has the size to continue to build on and fill out at the next level and shine at either position. The long, lean athlete can fly off the line quickly and either rush the edge, or show off his body control to push up field and then swim move back inside on the OT. The small school product separates himself from the crowd with his power and that frame. Give his quick Week 7 highlights a look. The 8 man league has some dudes in it, and Brett looks like one to know.      Stats: 9 Tackles, 1 TFL   It is short film, but Benjamin is all over the field during it. The senior had success deep at safety, in the slot, and dropping down near the box. The safety is a player you can high a high level of confidence in when he has to make the 1 on 1 tackle in the open field. Coaches will love how fast and violent the safety plays the game. He seems to be everywhere and always involved. Benjamin is a sleeper that people need to get their eyes on.      Stats: 5 Tackles, .5 Sacks, .5 TFLs   College recruiters are lucky that there is a 265 lbs, multi-year varsity starter at DT still available in the Class of 2026. That is what we have here with Muskego's [player_tooltip player_id='1220653' first='Nathan' last='Makinen']. Turn on the highlights and watch the quick hands win him reps. Watch his quickness off the line, and also get a glimpse at his awareness as a screen develops after he breaks through the line and turns and chases it down for little to no gain. I highly recommend going through the senior's weekly highlights on his page. Size, production, hand use, quickness are all strengths and on their way to being ready for the next level.      Stats: 8.5 Tackles, 2 TFLs, 1 FF   I know that Evan is one of the best in the state when it comes to punting, but every time I watch his highlights I can pretty easily project him to the next level as a safety as well. The junior has range to get to the ball all over the field while lining up deep. He is a violent tackler who runs through his hits. Evan does a great job of shedding blocks in traffic and still getting to the ball too. The junior is strong, rangy, and violent. Three traits that will give a safety a ton of success. While doing that on defense, the junior did also boot multiple elite punts that rolled inside the 5. The 2027 is a difference maker in the best conference in WI on defense and special teams.      Stats: 7.5 Tackles, 1 Sack, 1 TFL   Jaegar is a hammer in the middle of the Stratford defense! The senior delivers hits that ball carriers still feel the next morning. The senior dominates with his short area burst that helps him close quickly on the ball. A trait that helps him break up passes or meet the ball in the hole. Ormond also showed off some power to run through OL and get after the QB in Week 7. Jaegar is a tone setter with his physical play style, and he has the conditioning to also be a contributor on the OL at OG.      Stats: 6.5 Tackles, 3 TFLs, 1 Blocked Punt   What a display from Tyler in Week 7. The senior dominated with his movement through traffic. He avoided blocks while still coming downhill to make plays against the run. The range was there to easily get him to the sideline and make tackles outside the box. As an interior blitzer, Tyler showed he could bull rush the center or flash a swim move to get around the IOL. Tyler is becoming a three down impact player. Great to see that he was able to earn an offer from UW-Whitewater recently. Check out the highlights!
