PRZIA Underclassman Report: ’28s and ’29s Rising On My Radar

One player on the Black Raiders who has really been standing out is sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1650312' first='Isaiah' last='Grant'], who emerged on our radars as a sophomore and has delivered on expectations in year 2. Grant is currently the team's leading receiver with 18 receptions for 344 yards and four receiving touchdowns. Throughout the start of the season, Isaiah has demonstrated a knack for creating separation from defenders with his crisp route running and ability to attack a defender's leverage. He has good explosiveness getting off the ball and is quick to get vertical before making a sharp break at the top of the route. Isaiah is a reliable hands receiver who can secure tough catches through contact. Whether he's taking a quick screen/dumpoff pass or going deep, Grant is always a threat to tack on some major yardage after the catch with a good nose for the endzone. Great measurables at 6'2" and 185 pounds. Through four games, Lucas has hauled in 15 receptions for 140 yards and three touchdowns while making an impact deeper than the statsheet goes. On offense, Ryan plays a versatile H-back role, where he can serve as a pass-catching target or an asset as a blocker in the run game. What stood out to me about Ryan's play was his ability to turn upfield and tack on additional yardage on top of the catch. At 6'0" 210 pounds, Ryan is a handful to bring down, so he's able to stay upright as he fights through weak tackle attempts. Tough, physical, and good hands at the catch point. Lucas also has potential at linebacker, where he has nine tackles. Grice currently leads the team in tackles with 25.5 and interceptions with three. He's a rangy safety who can quickly flip his hips to drop back into coverage or can plant and drive downhill when he keys in on the run. Oliver seems a little lengthier than his listed height, which helps him when going up to defend passes at the catch point. Great speed to help him close on the ball from nearly anywhere on the field. Minor has been the primary disruptor for this Bulldogs' defense, as he has recorded 11 TFLs and five sacks to go with his 20.5 total tackles. I don't have a ton of film for Lucas, but from what I've seen, I have been really impressed with his motor and pursuit of the ball. He's quick to disengage from blockers and has the quickness to track down RBs in the backfield or scrambling QBs. We have a limited sample for Cade, but he has already recorded 9.5 total tackles, 3.5 TFLs, and 1.5 sacks through four games. He flashes the ability to use his natural leverage to win his battles at the LOS and is then able power his way into the backfield.
