SATURDAY SPOTLIGHT: Tovani Mizell Is The Future

With the 2021 season coming closer, you will see a number of gifted, young prospects who are making a huge impact. Because much of the off-season focus was on the upper classroom, many of the younger players had to make a name for themselves at combines, camps, 7-on-7 events and even spring, where colleges were not part of once again. There was a time when 8^th, 9^th and 10^th graders would get nowhere near a varsity roster, but with the amazing talent and coaching at the youth level, the process begins early on – and that has helped so many teams. THE MIZELL FILE Tovani Mizell POSITION: RB/LB CLASS: 2024 SCHOOL: West Palm Beach Cardinal Newman HEIGHT: 6-0 WEIGHT: 190 HEAD COACH: Jack Daniels WHAT ARE COACHES MISSING: When he arrived at Fort Lauderdale Westminster Academy as part of a very young and talented team, this was someone who turned heads – right away, as an 8^th grader. A versatile talent, from the very beginning that was fast, gifted and had a work ethic that many never get – let along being 13 and 14 years of age. Playing last year as a freshman at Fort Lauderdale Stranahan – and picked up some more vital experience – which prepared him for this off-season, and he was impressive wherever he went. Tovani became a major prospect – because of the many things he does to be special, and as he joins veteran head coach Jack Daniels and a growing program in West Palm Beach. What he brings to the table is someone who can play on either side of the ball as a running back or as a hard-hitting linebacker. His play on special teams is also something that will benefit Cardinal Newman this year and into the future.
