This installment of the series will cover defensive players who we believe will have a good season but are under the radar. Each of the four players is graded on a scale of 1-5. Five being equivalent to “baller” and one of our top dogs.
Dwayne Riley: Arriton High School – DL
Out of a smaller school in the AHSAA, but does MAJOR damage. Does a good job of getting off a block and stopping major yards from being gained. Somewhat slow off the line initially but makes up for it with his hustle and his pursuit of the football. He has one season left in 2021 and I think he will have a standout season this year. Give him a follow on Twitter @dwayneriley60. I give him a grade of 2.5-3
Jake McCluskey: Mars Hill – DL
TOUGH! He is a strong kid. He has good awareness. Can get off a block well and fight and beat a good double team. Once he becomes free, he is a missile to the ball. Very strong kid, good feet, good hands at the point of contact. Dominant football player in the trenches. When Mars Hill wins some football games this year and makes a solid run, look at Jake McCluskey being one of the reasons as he disrupts offenses. This kid deserves your attention. His Twitter is @jmccluksey. I give Jake a grade of 3.5.
“Tre” Seabon: Wetumpka – DB/LB
He is a very athletic-looking player. Plays a lot of DB/rover LB. Tackling mechanics aren’t the best but he gets the job done and is a ballplayer. He makes big plays. Sometimes he waits on ball carrier to get to him, but he makes big plays and can change the game. He plays very aggressive and with his senior year coming up, and with the offseason practices he has had, I believe Tre will have a very productive and solid senior season in 2021. There was something about him, I enjoyed watching his film. Look for him to have a breakout year. Give this guy a follow before it’s too late, @treseabon26. I give him a grade of 2.5-3.
Ryan Quinney: Theodore High School – DL/TE
I feel like Ryan was a better DL than a TE. He has the capability to play at the next level if he sticks with the defensive line. He was a powerhouse in 2020 and did some major damage to offensive lines. From watching his film and studying this kid, I see him being a wrecking ball during the 2021 season. He has good hands and is an athletic guy. To play at the next level, if he sticks with the DL he will make waves. Looking forward to seeing the breakout season he has in 2021. Hit this guy up @ryanquinney11. I give him a grade of 2.5 but fully see him being close to a 4 at the end of this season.
We look forward to seeing these guys play this season. They all have a great chance to make some waves this year. The season is a little over 2 weeks away and we couldn’t be more excited to see all of our Under the Radar Series prospects have a great season. Keep an eye on these kids, because you heard about them here first!
Friday nights under the lights is a great place to be. See you there!
