The Knights‘ offensive center is the total package. Check out this athletic/academic resume, and remember, OC’s are generally considered one of the smartest players and positions on the gridiron. Brutger wrestles in the heavyweight STMA wrestling program and also competes in track & field for the Knights, PRing with a 40’1.75″ shot put and 132’7″ discus. He’s a 2x football captain, 2025 All-District pick, squats 510 pounds, benches 295 pounds, and holds a 3.7 GPA. As a prospect, he holds a D2 offer from Concordia-St. Paul out of the Northern Sun and visited St. Thomas for a junior day experience.

His 2025 opens with a great rep against Eden Prairie wherein he engages with a DE, who jumps and leaves himself vulnerable in an attempt to bat down a ball in a passing lane, but Brutger gets those big paws on and absolutely throttles the DL into the ground in emphatic fashion. He displays a great base, is a hammer at the contact point and does a great job of re-establishing his hand placement and leverage advantage throughout a rep and while working to finish. He always works to get a defender on his back, and shows off great pad level and has reps of him almost parallel to the turf off the snap and while initiating contact with a DL. He also has good tape from the DL, with a great get-off as a DT, effective hand-usage, good chop/rip, and strength through contact. He displays a great first step as a DL, can gain width and/or get vertical if you need, and powerful working through contact, and is an overall violent tackler. I smell a stock riser and a sleeper of an 2027 OL prospect for local college programs!

Brutger started at center as a sophomore and returns as the hub of the operation. At roughly 6-3, 270, he looks the part and moves along the interior with precision and accuracy. Breger clearly understands his assignments. From front IDs, mic points, and protection checks, he allows the offense to toggle between under-center and gun without misfires. In the run game, he plays with a strong base and independent hands, reaching shaded noses and staying connected on doubles before climbing with balance. Breger’s feet stay underneath him on wraps and counters, which keeps pullers clean and creates vertical movement in short yardage. In pass pro, he’s calm through games, passing off with quiet eyes and a firm post leg. Another offseason of core strength and strike timing will turn stalemates into displacement. Breger is a clear college prospect on the interior—scheme-versatile, smart, and durable, with the frame to carry more good weight without losing mobility.
