Today, we ventured down to the lone star state, to analyze the 2021 roster of Cy-Fair High School. After an impressive 10-2 campaign, the Bobcats return plenty of intriguing college-level talent that should be on college coaches’ radars across the country. Here are some of Cy-Fair’s top names to know entering this fall.
LB: [player_tooltip player_id="130707" first="Hunter" last="Warren"], 5’11", 210, Sr A fleet-footed blitzer equipped with outstanding burst off the line. Warren is a proficient tackler that takes great angles to the ball and plays with outstanding body control. He has a keen sense for the game and can diagnose plays and make tackles behind the line in a flash. This is a dependable inside linebacker prospect that any coach would be lucky to have on their football team. WR: Landon Arrington, 6’1", 190, Sr A consistent vertical threat that can work all three parts of the field. Arrington is a burner with the ball in his hands and has the speed to outrun multiple angles. He’s a natural deep ball tracker that can run under just about any ball thrown his way. Landon can lineup all over the field and will consistently gash defenses. Look for him to be the focal point of Cy-Fair’s 2021 offense this fall. QB: [player_tooltip player_id="125227" first="Tanner" last="Murray"], 6’3", 205, Sr A strong-armed dual-threat with exceptional timing and steady ball placement. Murray is a tenacious runner with the ball in his hands and features a powerful lower-half that defenders seemingly bounce off of. He calmly climbs the pocket when under duress and keeps his eyes downfield, looking for a potential target. He shows calm feet in the pocket and twitchy operation time. TE: Cooper Stevens, 6’2", 200, So A young but sure-handed tight-end prospect that can make contested catches in traffic. Stevens is a threat in the short-intermediate game & can make something happen quickly once he gets the ball in his hands. As a blocker, he’s strong at the point of attack, punches on a rise, and can drive opponents off the ball against their will. He needs to continue to add weight, but I think he most certainly has a bright future. DB: Ryan Warth, 6", 190, Sr A true strong safety that is comfortable rolled up playing in the box. Warth loves contact and will speed his feet once the initial collision has been made. He easily fights off wide receivers blocks on the perimeter and will come up & make tackles in space. Look for him to take on a bigger role at the varsity level this fall. QB: [player_tooltip player_id="147432" first="Trey" last="Owens"], 6’2", 170, So Just a sophomore, but man, is the sky the limit for Owens. On tape, you’ll see plenty of arm talent to go along with pinpoint vertical ball accuracy. Trey calmly works through his progression, looking for a potential receiver. He throws extremely well on the run and will place the ball right on the numbers. Look for him to be the next man in line once Murray graduates. DT: Nick Martinez, 6’1", 250, Jr A disruptive 2i with a great first step off the ball. Martinez is firm at the point of attack and can fight off zone double teams. He’s one tough guy to single block, as he effortlessly tossed them away in 2020. You’re looking at a high effort kid who will go hard from whistle to whistle and will chase plays down from the backside. OL: Alex Rodriguez, 6'3, 320, Sr An overwhelming big man with a potent punch. Rodriguez uses his size to bully defenders off the ball and create knockback. He's a steady pass protector who moves pretty well for a man his size. Alex gives up no ground against bull rushes and will thrive as a down blocker. He projects as a guard at the next level. DE: Brock Green, 6", 205, Jr A gifted pass rusher that was everywhere on tape. Green is a physical presence in both the run and pass game. He shows good bend off the edge to go along with strong hands. He can anchor down in the run game and fight off opposing tackles. To me, he projects as a 3-4 outside linebacker at the next level.
Other Names to Know WR: Owen Carter, 6'2", 180, So
