As we approach the season, realignment is at the top of my mind. For the first time, North Carolina is going to an 8A system, which will further stratify the schools. So, over the next couple of months, I'm going through classifications to highlight the players fans will need to know.

We've arrived at the tight ends. Especially in the lower classifications, we typically have fewer ranked tight ends, so we're combining our typical 1A/2A and 3A/4A pieces into one. Here are the top 1A/2A/3A/4A TEs to know.

The recent Elon commit can really run, and that's the first thing that stands out on film. How many 6'2.5," 205-pound tight ends are running back multiple kickoffs and punts for touchdowns, or taking Wing T handoffs for massive gains. He's more of an H-Back/deployable chess piece than a traditional in-line tight end, but his speed, vision, hands, and power will all serve him well as he adjusts to the college game.

Though listed at tight end in our rankings, Congleton rarely aligned in tight, spending most of his time as a big slot to take advantage of mismatches. He displayed great ball skills, due largely to long arms and a wide catch radius. He's not afraid to lay out for a catch and while his blocking technique could use some refinement, he's more than willing to get physical.

Holland's size immediately stands out on film. He's grown even since the end of the season and that's something coaches can't teach. His numbers don't tell the whole story as he was often asked to stay in and block, but when he was leaked out, he usually came down with the ball, even in tight coverage. The ball skills will translate and he'll move up the rankings if we can see him do a bit more after the catch.

Harrison is in the running for best athlete in the state. A legitimate 6'7", Harrison is a standout on the basketball court and you can tell whenever the ball is in the air that he has plenty of experience boxing out in the post. He has great hands and doesn't get enough credit for his blocking, something that should help him find the field earlier at Oregon.

You'd be hard-pressed to find a more productive tight end anywhere in the state last year than Wilson, who went over 1,000 yards for North Pitt. He has prototypical tight end size and though he hasn't shown a full route tree on film (what high school tight end has?) he's lethal when leaked into the flat or the seam. He's more than just a big body, as he has excellent hands and looks natural after the catch.
