Names you need to know from SBU prospect camp

This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending the Southwest Baptist University college prospect camp. I would like to thank Coach Hansen and his amazing coaching staff for putting on an amazing camp for these young athletes.   The talent that was displayed at this camp was off the charts, from the skill positions to the linemen. Many athletes deserve recognition, and most will receive it in later articles. These 6 athletes really caught my eye and I'm eager to jump into raving about their performance at this camp.    A really explosive wide receiver is [player_tooltip player_id='1125445' first='Sky' last='Owens'] from Wentzville.   Owens made his presence felt right from the start of camp. He was energetic and upbeat from start to finish. He paired those qualities with running some of the cleanest routes out of anyone who attended the camp. He tested well in all of the field events, recording good times. Where he impressed the most was when it was time to run routes, and the competition portion of 1-on-1s. Owens really shined showing an explosive burst off the line.   He was off and on top of opposing defensive backs really quick and lighting fast in and out of his breaks. Every college program should take notice of Owens' game.      Taylor was ready and dialed in at SBU camp.   Taylor was a technician last weekend; you can tell Taylor takes great pride in making sure that every movement he makes is not wasted. He is such an explosive athlete out of the backfield. Paired with sure hands, he is a weapon that every college football program would love to have.   I needed to go back home and turn on the tape of Taylor in full pads. He was just as impressive, he has great vision as a ball carrier and runs behind his pads. Expect a huge senior season out of Taylor. He is going to be special.        Hyper athletic and underrated is Morris from Lighthouse Christian.   Morris has pretty much everything you need out of a wideout. He stands every bit of 6'3, weighing 192 pounds. On top of that, Morris posted a blistering 4.50 forty-yard dash. What else could you ask for? He's also a high-character player who's going to give you everything he has every play.   During camp, Morris made quick work of opposing defensive backs. He is a tall, long-striding type of route runner that can cover ground so quickly it catches the defense on their heels routinely.   I was unfamiliar with Morris before this camp, and now he has made me a huge fan of his game. From some reports, I'm not the only fan.      Very, very competitive and talented is Zay Bousquet from Central High School.   Every football team needs that one player who plays with a little chip on his shoulder, and that perfectly describes Nathaniel "Zay" Bousquet. I don't think there was a defensive player on the field who took more reps than Bousquet, coaches love that competitive fire. He had one really impressive interception on the far sideline in 1-on-1's and nearly had a second covering the running back out of the backfield.   He has pretty good size paired with pretty good speed at the linebacker position. Although he has position flexibility and experience playing some rover/ safety at Central High School.   Bousquet turned some heads at the SBU camp, and with two more years left to play high school football, he is just getting started.      Bruce is an absolute animal on the offensive line.   I love college prospect camps that allow the big linemen to bring their pads, because it allows them to showcase their physicality. Bruce took full advantage of this opportunity and went into the competition portion of camp ready to take it to these defensive linemen. Bruce is an absolute tank as an interior lineman he can snap out of his stance very quickly and once, he gets his hands on you in his pass set he has the ability to anchor down and set all his weight lower to ground. Once he gets this position the play is usually over for that pass rusher.   He was pretty impressive at the SBU camp with a good frame and mean physical demeanor. He also left SBU with great times in every event. Bruce left me wondering what his film looked like, so I headed back home and pulled him up. Bruce might be even better in the run game and that's saying a lot because he is phenomenal in his pass protection.   I'm going to keep a close eye on Bruce this upcoming season.      If you want an athletic specimen that just so happens to be great at football, look no further than Pryor, Oklahoma.   [player_tooltip player_id='1684110' first='Jackson' last='Parks'] can jump, run and catch usually better than most athlete's his age what more attributes could you ask for out of your wideout. He spent most of his day at camp making the coaches at SBU turn their heads and keep asking who this kid is from Pryor, Oklahoma? Well, it's time for the world to get well acquainted with Mr. Parks because this is just the beginning of his football journey.   Parks is another really big Wide receiver with a huge catch radius that makes the quarterback pretty comfortable to just throw in his general area and he should go and make a grab. He tested among the top in every event conducted and also had a good outing in the competition portion and route running drills.   Parks is in the class of 2027, so he has two more solid years of high school football to showcase his insane athleticism. He is going to make a college football team very happy.
