Recruiting/Player Profile: Caden Schoeppner/Brainerd (2021)

<strong>BRAINERD--</strong> Today we chat with 2021 NFN prospect <strong>Caden Schoeppner</strong> of the Brainerd Warriors who plays running back and outside linebacker. We chatted with Schoeppner about his 2019 season, his recruiting trail, and much more. <strong>Get to Know Caden Schoeppner</strong> Schoeppener's football career started in third grade and his love for the game has gotten even stronger since those elementary school days. The Warriors coaching staff loves Schoeppener as he's a silent leader and always listens to his coaches with everything they say. Caden also is a hard worker that learns from mistakes very quickly. Schoeppner is a team-based player that puts the Warriors goals before his own. Schoeppner's coaches call him the "Swiss Army Knife" because they know they can place him anywhere on the field and he will have success. Schoeppner has been gifted on JV and Varsity with several "player of the game" awards and "offensive player of the year" and" specials teams player of the year,". <strong>Best Part About Linebacker/Running Back</strong> Schoeppner said "competition" is his favorite thing about the positions he plays on offense and defense. He enjoys the contact, whether that's breaking tackles or instilling his own will on ball carriers. He also loves the reaction his teammates get whenever he makes a big play. <strong>College Interest</strong> Schoeppner has a goal to play college football and he's had a great number of opportunities to chat with colleges about their programs and where he fits in. After his sophomore year, Caden attended camps at NDSU, SDSU, Mankato, and Bemidji State after his sophomore season. He took in so many camps to see "what kind of player" he needs to be to fit in at any given program. <strong>Improvements in the Offseason</strong> The biggest thing the Warriors coaching staff tells every player to work on is their strength. Schoeppner said he's been working hard in the weight room at school this offseason. Schoeppner also joined Crossfit this offseason in which he just competed in an event about a week ago. He said "I look forward to tearing up the field next season for Brainerd" which are some big words we look forward to seeing in play in the 2020 football season. <strong>Caden's Mentors</strong> Caden told him he gets his game from Viking great <strong>Adrian Peterson. </strong>Schoeppner got to watch Peterson in his rookie year during a preseason game at the Metrodome. "I remember how hard he ran and how hard he was to tackle," Schoeppner told Northstar Football News. Caden also said he gets his running back style from Peterson, as Peterson was someone who to this day will run through guys vs. taking the easier way out to get out of bounds. Brainerd head coach <strong>Ron Stolski</strong> is another mentor of Caden's and a darn good one if I might say. Stolski is Minnesota's longest-tenured coach at 58 years as coach of the Warriors and brings a lot of knowledge and experience, but has never won a state title. "I would love to be part of the team that brings him his first state title," Schoeppner told NFN. <strong>Learning from His Junior Season</strong> As a running back, Schoeppner learned how to run with his eyes better and built great self-esteem to have confidence in his ability. He also learned that success is created in the offseason and the effort and training you put in are what you will get out of your football game.
