Demetrius Stewart Demetrius Stewart 6'3" | 225 lbs | EDGE/ATH Essex | 2028 State VA is a versatile two-way football player who contributes as both a running back and a defensive end. His physical style stands out on both sides of the ball, letting him impact the game in multiple phases. At running back Stewart is most effective when working between the tackles. He does a good job following his blocks and finding running lanes, while his physicality allows him to finish runs with purpose. For his size, he possesses decent speed and can gain yards when he gets into space. His ability as a blocker also adds value, giving him another way to contribute when he is not carrying the football. On the defensive side, Stewart’s quick first step is one of his notable traits. Coming off the edge, he can get into his rush quickly and put pressure on the offense. He also shows the ability to contain the edge, maintaining his responsibilities and preventing ball carriers from easily getting outside. Stewart plays with a physical mindset and brings an edge to the defense. His ability to set the tone, combined with his versatility, makes him useful in different situations. The combination of his size, quickness, physicality, and ability to contribute on both sides of the ball gives him a strong foundation to continue developing.

Currently ranked as a Running Back, Demetrius is a large-framed, power back out of Essex. Thick legs and build, and he has very good run strength and balance. He has good speed that gets him through the second level, but he lacks the top-end elite breakaway speed. What he lacks in top-end speed is made up for in his physicality and ability to make multiple defenders miss with his strength and size. He also plays Edge, and I would not be surprised if Edge becomes his primary position for us in the future.
