Expert Analysis
Bryan Ault | Prep Redzone Scout
Kelvin Keyes is a starting defensive back for Beavercreek, and the 5-foot-10, 175-pound prospect can be a real thumper. Keyes flies to the ball and has no problems with delivering heavy hits. In coverage, he stays in phase and times the ball well with his hands, and he is a legitimate threat to go the distance as a kick returner. Keep an eye on him this spring.

Kelvin Keyes is a cornerback, but he is built like a running back, with a thick upper and lower half and strong downfield speed as a kickoff return specialist. He can thump and hit hard. Strong as a blitzer off the edge, he is a very good run defender and strong pass rusher. Keep an eye on his development.

I had Keyes name passed along to me during this scrimmage season. When I watched his film, I loved what I saw. Keyes plays cornerback at Beavercreek, but I project him as a safety at the next level. He’s a playmaker in both the run and pass games. When Keyes diagnoses it’s like he’s shot out of a cannon. He’s full speed ahead and he’s looking to lay the wood. He plays well in space and takes strong angles to the ball. Kelvin is a player who I could really see skyrocketing up the rankings with some good junior film.
