I’ve been tracking Skelton for well over a year now, and when you factor in UAB’s seemingly yearly success with sub-6’0 playmakers at receiver, this is an obvious fit. Skelton is an absolute burner with a state championship in the 100M under his belt, PR’ing at 10.56 in the 100M. He is a threat vertically as well, quickly getting up on DBs and overwhelming with fiery feet to create deception. Ball skills and contested catch ability are present here, too. Skelton is simply too fast and has too much juice to be kept off the field for too long.
One of the fastest overall prospects in Georgia, Skelton uses his speed and explosiveness on both sides of the ball for Upson-Lee. He shows easy breakaway speed at wide receiver who can sneak past defenders with ease down the field. He also covers a ton of ground as a defensive back and closes well on the receiver when the ball is in the air. He hauled in 27 passes last season for 290 yards and three touchdowns while making 24 tackles on defense with one INT and four pass-breakups. His best football is still ahead of him and he should see his ranking increase in the next 2026 Prep Redzone update.
We’ve written about Skelton recently, but he deserves even more recognition after roving once again why he’s one of the fastest overall prospects in the state. This small-town receiver hauled in 35 passes for 771 yards and seven touchdowns last fall as a junior and his speed is a big reason why. Skelton ran a 10.8 in the 100-meter with wind in his face, still winning first place. Look for him to run close to a 10.3 by the end of track season. He’s got a chance to have a monster football season in the fall as well with a new Prep Redzone ranking coming his way later this month.
Arguably the fastest 2026 prospect in the state, Skelton brings elite speed to the gridiron that allows him to take off down the field and fly past defenders with ease. A state champion in the 100m (10.56) and the 4×100, Skelton’s speed stands out immediately on film, but he’s more than just a track guy. He’s a smooth runner who can create separation and tracks the football well in the air. Offensively, this Middle-Georgia weapon caught 27 passes for just under 300 yards and three touchdowns while making 27 tackles and one INT in the secondary. He earned a new offer from the UAB Blazers and it likely won’t be his last.
