Versatile defender at strong safety, showing a true three down skillset with his ability to make plays against both the run and pass. Flashes great closing speed allowing him to make an impact all over the field, covering ground in a hurry once he triggers on a run fit or breaks on a throw. Good diagnosis skills, quickly identifying the play and putting himself in position before it develops. Physical in run support, willing to fill the alley and anchor down to take on blocks. In coverage, he shows the range to play deep or underneath. Displays good eye discipline to locate his threat and take an efficient drop angle to close throwing lanes. Brings heavy contact to every tackle accelerating his feet through to finish opponents to the ground violently. Well-rounded skillset that could play multiple positions depending on development and scheme.

Blalock checks into our rankings as the number 8 linebacker, and just inside the top 50 overall within the state. He is very athletic, fluid in space and shows cover abilities downfield and in the flats. He also shows he can set the edge, plays with violent hands and quickly sniffs out plays before triggering, with a natural feel for always being around the ball. Out in space, he is a sure tackler that can take the proper angles to shiftier ball carriers while breaking down and exploding through contact. Overall, he is a very balanced player that should have a huge three seasons for the Monarchs.
