Nate’s Way Too Early: Top Metro Boomers

Nate’s Way Too Early: Top Metro Boomers

Here is Nate's Way Too Early: Top Metro Boomers. We are taking a look at underclassmen punters from the Twin Cities metro that should be the top punters to watch next year. Jaden Quast, Punter, Concordia Academy (2021) Quast was one of a few punters in the state that averaged almost 40 yards per punt last season with at least 10 attempts. Being that Concordia Academy was so solid last year at 7-1 but lost in the first game of sections in an upset to Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, I hope we get to see more opportunities this year to see Quast's full potential as a punter. Tate Lahr, Punter, Mounds View (2021) Lahr had a larger sample size on punts versus Quast, as he hit 37 punts this year for almost 39 yards per punt and 4 punts inside the 20-yard line. I'd like to see the ratio of every 9 punts being inside the 20, to increase this year to a lower number for Lahr, as I feel he has the potential to punt at the next level. Jack Kalman, Punter, Orono (2022) Kalman, as just a sophomore has taken the reigns of the Orono punting unit. Averaging 38 yards per punt is pretty impressive for a 15-year-old. Kalman, already took an unofficial visit to Georgia Tech, which I am sure won't be the only Division I program giving him a call and watching him in 2020. Connor Reynolds, Punter, Eden Prairie (2021) Reynolds had a phenomenal punts/per inside the 20-yard line rato last year as every 2.5 punts were inside the 20 for the Eagles special teams unit led by Reynolds. 3 of his 8 games in the regular season he hit an average of 40 yards per punt and had 9 punts inside the 20 on the season. Reynolds is another charming punter in the 2021 class. Trent Bowe, Punter, Mound Westonka (2021) Bowe is not a long punter by any means at around 34 yards per punt, but his punt/inside the 20-yard line ratio is just under every 4 punts were inside the 20-yard line on the season for the White Hawks. Bowe also showed his leg in 3 of the last 5 games of the season, in which his average was right around 40 yards per punt. This kid has the potential to get longer in 2020.
